AUGUST GARDEN MEETS THE CANON CAMERA

OK it's debut day. And I have to say that I am a little nervous about publishing these photos taken with my new Canon EOS Rebel Xsi. Did I mention that it's my new camera?
But they have to be shown sometime. And now after taking literally thousands of photos over the last few days, these are the best. So far.
I seem to have the camera shake, and the focusing problems partially solved.
The camera comes with a kit lens, 18 - 55 mm. And from what I have been reading, it's not the best lens. A macro and telephoto will come at a later date.
I have taken so many photos over the last few days that my eyes are bugging out. The delete button is already starting to wear out. [ Just kidding ]. Not kidding about the eyes.
But the only way to get used to this camera is to shoot, shoot, shoot. Most of these shots are straight out of camera.
Poor Bootsie, every time he comes by, he is stalked, and photographed so much that he is no longer jumping at the sound of the camera clicking. What a scardy cat he is.
Unlike my Gardening Assistant and Turf Toter, their idyllic walk at Crescent Beach was accompanied by the click of the camera every few seconds. "But guys I need people to practice on..... guys wait up, wait up......."
There was a honey golden light in the garden tonight, due most likely to the high level of pollution and the heat wave. Somehow my poor G.A. never got dinner until much later, and he had to clean it up by himself. "Thanks sweetie, I love you for your patience!" "When you eventually buy your Dodge Ram, I will let you drive me all over the countryside."

"And I will even let you pick the radio station."

Any other Canon camera owners out there? What do you have, and how do you like it? Does this mean that I am now a Canon Girl? I love this camera!!!!

  1. I too, am a Canon Rebel Girl. I like to tell my husband that using it makes me a rebel...he just laughs.

I love my camera. You did a great job, keep using it, you will get used to it. Although...from your pics..it certainly doesnt show that it is a new camera..my first week or so with my camera involved more blurred pics than i would care to mention.

    Good Job!

  2. Jen,

I am a Canon boy, though unlike you, I refuse to leave the world of film. I currently treasure 4 Canon models, all film, and all in wonderful glorious working order! I have picked them up here and there, some have stories, like the one I bought from an Asian student at Kwantlen College. He sold me a particular model that was not available in North America. These film cameras, though I love the noise of the film being pulled through frame by frame, are much too loud for my kitties. The sight if these dinosaurs of technology send them scrambling for the farthest, darkest corners to avoid being yet another subject. They are definitely "not ready for their close up, Mr Demille"......

I have a Kodak, so I am not a Canon girl....
    Great job!

  4. Bekah, glad to hear that I was not the only one deleting all the blurry photos. That poor delete button is getting a real workout. Thanks for the encouragement.

  5. L.O.P. from what I have been reading on the web, there are many, many, very talented photographers that insist on using film for their "best" work. They still feel that it captures the effects they want with more clarity than a digital. I love the history in your collection. That is harder to get with a digital.

  6. Laurie, thanks, I think any camera is great as long as we just go out there and take the pictures.

  9. Hi Jen - I'm in the market for a new camera and the Canon Rebel XSi was at the top of my wish list and then thought I'd come over here to see if you told us what camera you have - as your photographs are absolutely stunning - and it's the same! So, do you still love it? Is that what you are using now? I wish it had video though as I like to take little "movies" of my son.
