Meet my new baby

Announcing a new addition to our family!
A bouncing baby CANON EOS rebel Xsi camera. Which weighs in at 1lb. +
You probably thought we got a cat, or maybe a puppy. But this is one baby that I have been waiting for over 2 years to get.
After saving all my birthday money, and anything else I could get my hands on, I finally decided to jump the gun and purchase a new DSLR camera.
Normally I am a Nikon girl, and have had many many conversations about the pros and cons of Nikon vs. Canon. But the Nikon I wanted was way out of my reach financially, so I got this beauty.
I love it, but we are going through some hiccups with the focusing. It's nowhere as easy as my little point and shoot Panasonic lumix, [ which I highly recommend to any budding photographer].
Hopefully I will get the kinks worked out in a few days, and then I can start showing you some of the photos from it. Until then, it's my trusty Panasonic that is still the workhorse for this blog.
So what's your favorite camera, or are you patiently waiting to get another baby?

  1. Congrats on making the big leap! It'll take a little while to get the hang of focusing the thing but it will be SO well worth the "growing pains". Yay for you!!!!!

  3. Enjoy your new camera!! I truly love my DSLR (though I'm a die hard Nikon girl!)... so much that I'm upgrading the next chance I get!

I do love this Canon, but I think I will always be a "die hard" Nikon girl also. I just thought that spending over $1300.00 on a body only Nikon could not be justified....yet. LOL. Well I could justify it, but not afford it. And think what the lens's cost. My G.A. would never ever get that Dodge Ram.

  5. I have the XTI and have been slowly learning. The leap to manual settings was huge for me. Here is what I recommend take lots of pictures using all of your settings, then go back and compare. Oh and mine shoots too light so keep you need to watch your meter. Also....don't mess with the white balance if you don't have to. Have fun!

  6. Cindy, thanks for the cheer! Telling you I really needed it the first few days. Thought I had made a huge mistake. Now things have turned the corner, and new lens will make a big difference. It's a learning curve.

  8. Bee, thanks, I am looking forward to comparing all the settings. Manual mode has made a world of difference to me. More clarity, it's just a little overwhelming to remember everything, but I am sure some will come with time.
