What a difference a day makes!

Yesterday, I got up early and went down to a deserted beach. It was glorious.
Today, I got up early, the same time, different day, and went down to a "packed" beach. There were more people than birds.
The boardwalk was crowded with early morning walkers intent on striding past anyone who wasn't fast enough for them. Especially those with tripods and cameras. People this camera is heavy, and, I was in the slow lane. Get that, a slow lane, at the beach.
The pier was jiggling from the joggers and I gave up trying to shoot anything from there. The beach had tourists walking in all the best shots. It was 6:30 in the morning!
It was smelly with diesel fumes and exhaust from vehicles wafting on the breeze and covering up the tang of the salt air.
And constant conversations, "there just is no one who wants to jump in and help out anymore" whined a Nordic walking stick wielding man, probably they are afraid you might hit them with the walking sticks.
" And then Bob said that there was no way he was going to invite Aunt Cindy over any more", this from a thin blond, power walking her way to the pier. Have to wonder what poor old Aunt Cindy did?
"Sell? no way, not until it reaches 350" is that a temperature or a dollar amount?
That's from the business man in a dark suit, with the Starbucks coffee and a cell phone.
AT THE BEACH!
I know that White Rock is a tourist town, and I know that it's a public beach, but its my beach on Sunday mornings. And I kind of like it that way.
So what do you think? Let me know, do you prefer the packed beach or the bare naked beach?

  2. OK, The minute I posted this I thought to myself, someone is going to say that I am whining. And I am! But it was just so serene there yesterday morning, and I was really hoping that things had changed around here and everything was like it was 10 years ago......
Wishful, and selfish thinking on my part, I will admitt that. But I still love the "bare naked beach" of the fall and winter.

  3. Oh a naked beach everytime. I hate the fuss of people that come out on sunny days at the beach.

    Stunning photo's as usual :)

  6. Laura, thanks for giving me the link to the mosaic makers. What fun that is. I can hardly wait.

Fern, it's good to know that I am not alone, there is nothing like a deserted beach on a lovely morning. All that untrampled sand, and to be the first to find the days beach glass treasures....
But I am going to have to wait until the cooler weather to get that back again.
