Are you a lonely blogger?

Are you a lonely blogger? Is anyone else in your life a blogger, other than the people who read your blogs? Why do we blog? The reasons vary, some blog for fame, some blog as a online journal to record important milestones in their life. While others blog just for the sense of community, knowing that you are sharing common interests, we all have our reasons, and I would like to know yours.
Tell me, why you blog, and what made you start?
I know of no one else personally that blogs, other than the wonderful people whose blogs I read, and those who read mine. We share a community, a sense of togetherness. I consider them my friends. Thank you friends, it has been good to meet you! In fact when I started to blog, I was a little sceptical of the whole process. I thought that most bloggers were politically oriented or just slightly not all there. Some sort of oddball person, who collects only the green Lego's pieces made before 1970, and looking for friends who wanted to play with them. I started because it gave me a outlet to post some of the photos I was taking. This way I would not have to email my long suffering friends the endless slide shows and photo files that I was currently filling their in boxes with. When I first told friends that I started a blog, it was almost apologetic, can you believe it, yes me, a blog? I know, now I am one of those people. Now, I have no problem saying, yes I write a blog, and I really enjoy it! And I enjoy the people I am meeting through my blogging. There are some amazing people out there, and they have interesting stories to tell, and I for one, am looking forward to hearing them. So let me know, what made you decide to blog?

  1. One of my daughters had been blogging for a couple of years to let the rest of us know what was going on in her life. I decided that was a great way to do it so I started one myself. I haven't been doing it very long but have found some great bloggers (usually by accident) whose humor is about par with mine, (little weird) and who share some of the same interests. I look forward to checking them out each morning, and I get a kick out of them checking mine out, too. So the short answer would be "because it's fun"

  2. I needed to blog, I began last December when my husband became ill (he has Trigeminal Neuralgia..and really struggles with pain most days). Check out my Archives Feb 17 Post on TN if you are curious about it.
Previously I thought, hey that sounds like fun, I have always been a frustrated writer, I just never had the time to pursue it.
I wanted to write a book about dogs, and a book about Northern Minnesota Perennials.
I now blog for my Grandkids, so someday they can read what I write and smile. I am not a lonely blogger , my husband , daughter and a friend all blog. They are hit and miss bloggers, I try to write something every day, as I made it a News Years Resolution:)

  3. Interesting and timely post. I just started, last night, a creative writing course, my first. (yea...little happy dance jig around my chair...okay, I'm back) and one of the questions posed was Why do you write? So, I'm still chewing on that a bit, and may write at length on it (hopefully, not ad naseum) at some future date. In the meantime, a simple answer to your question is that I started to blog to keep track of my progress, in a word/picture diary sort of fashion, as I worked through my list of 101 Things to Do in 1001 Days. The details about that are on my inaugural post.

As for knowing other bloggers. I did have a friend who blogged and she inspired me to begin my own. She's since stopped blogging to take a virtual sabbatical. Other than her, no one that will admit to it....

  4. I started blogging for a couple of reasons.

    1. I love to write, and i like to tell stories so it kind of came naturally

    2. my very close aunt and uncle moved to croatia this year, so it is a way for them to know whats going on in our family, stuff that wouldnt necessarily warrant an email (like my dog) but that they still feel like they get a little glimpse of our lives.

There are actually a couple members of my fam that have started to blog as well now. Two of my sisters do, also my cousin.

I get teased a little about mine, usually by brothers and such, but once they read it they think its funny. (Matt even started a blog once! haha it was shortlved though)

  5. I started blogging because I liked the challenge of researching and writing posts. It's helped me become a better gardener.

  6. I love this post. The photos are breathtaking and are so timely with your thoughts. That is what keeps my blogging -- reading such great, fun, interesting posts.

What started me blogging was my kids. They thought it would be easier to post photos on a blog rather than me sending them by email, so one of them set up our family blog and that got me started. However, I do love telling a good story and two of my blogs have a "creative - sewing & food" bent to them, so that's fun too! So the overall answer would be -- blogging encourages and is an avenue for my creativity! All my immediate and most of my extended family blog. It's a great way to keep in touch with extended family especially!

  7. This is a great post, I love all the red photos! I had thought blogging wasn't for me but then i had a 'vision' of how a blog could look and decided I'd try it, mostly as a place to share my poetry but also other things.

  8. I love your pictures - too beautiful for words!

I've only been blogging for two months now, but started it because I'm a scriptwriter and get paid for writing - but then I have to write what the customer wants me to write. And when I blog, well then I can write what I want to write.

I know quite a few people who write blogs over here in Sweden.

  9. Very thought provoking post! I feel like my journey in blogging is much like yours. I didn't have anyone in my personal acquaintance that blogged. Some of my distant family members started blogs after I started mine. My mother even protested the word "blog" because she said it sounded stupid and wouldn't use it (although she's since adopted it). I started blogging because I needed a place to pair my photos and writing together if no one else other than me and Hubby. Then it kind of branched out into a wonderful network of friends all over the world that "get" me. I felt like I was so alone in who I was until I discovered all these wonderful friends that live in other places besides my immediate neighborhood. It's been wonderful to know that there are many people in the world who understand my loves and passions. I feel like I "belong" for the first time in my life. It's wonderful!

    Hugs and love,
    Cindy

  10. Thanks everyone for all the wonderful comments, and thank you for sharing with all of us your reasons why you blog.
It is so interesting to read how everyone's paths have merged, and we all found each other.
