It's coming again soon, the great cat debate, the feline fiasco, the kitty conundrum. We will soon be voting as a strata building whether or not to allow cats, for the 3rd time. Third time lucky, I say.
Those were some of the best attended Annual General Meetings we had ever had in the 30 year history of this building. Almost everyone showed up.
VOTE YES for kitty!! That's my campaign slogan.
Hopefully this time it will not involve, intimidation, coercion, and intrigue. well maybe the intrigue part is OK. But grown men coercing little old ladies to vote no, and offering younger ones a free dinner to vote no is just not on.
And almost everyone had a opinion, unfortunately they did not all coincide with the subject of whether or not to allow cats.
One lady accused everyone of stealing her mail, sending it off to aliens to read and then putting it back under her door mat. [Her family eventually relocated her to a old age home].
Another gentleman stood up and told a long rambling story about a donkey in a elevator. Apparently the owners eventually found out that the miniature donkey was kept up on the 23rd floor as a illegal pet. Hey they should have been glad that the owners did not keep a pet python, and take it for walks. All we want are some indoor kitties.
We lost the first two times, because of the cheating and intimidation. But we are better prepared this time, and besides, many of the naysayers are now gone. So I am challenging the cat haters to bring it on. I'll be the first to sling the kitty litter!
You can count on my support! Bear & Bunny have their little paw fists raised in the air in support, as well.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to meet the miniature donkey people...right on! Although having a ground floor apartment may have been a smarter choice for them.
It has been scientifically proven that the presence of animals lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and do all number of good things for us humans.
Vote YES!
You go girl - let em' have it!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you!! Vote yes for kitties!! I want to be there to see you sling the kitty litter!! By the way, what does the free dinner consist of. Just asking....no reason...
ReplyDeleteMost of the older anti-cat people have passed away. And the biggest cat-hater has moved. As far as I can see, we only have one really big cat-hater to deal with. He is a new owner, but very sneaky!!!
ReplyDeleteWe need over 75% of the vote to change the bylaw. During the last vote, they added a $800 per month fine, it has never been applied to any owners, and it is illegal.
So we would like that dropped also.
Jen
I say sling the litter! Pounce on the naysayers! Stalk the voters carefully, when they least expect it hit them with your best paw! Could you take some pictures too? :)
ReplyDeleteIt all seems a little ridiculous, doesn't it? Especially if the kitties are kept in your own place, and not allowed to roam the halls or whatever. What possible difference could it make to anyone else? Ah well, by laws are meant to be broken...er, changed. :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder why people wouldn't want indoor cats around? It not like they ruin anything, they don't bark like dogs, they use litter boxes instead of people's yards...
ReplyDeleteJen .. Sophie,Emma, and I will even get "Mr. Mystery" to come .. we will all get on a plane (which is my biggest dread after flying too many times) .. we will come over and knock sense into any Naysayers left. They should all know, as you do, that for cats to grace your building, well it would be an honour for the building ! .. we cat lovers all know that !
ReplyDeleteI am concentrating on a total YES ! for you : )
I hope you win. Cats make great house pets.

Wow - what drama! Honestly, the meeting sounded like a sitcom -- except it sounded sooo much better!
ReplyDeleteOh the drama and the hilarity... post-thieving aliens and pet donkeys! Wonder if he used donkey litter? In which case you could throw some of that (make sure it is used though)...
ReplyDeleteIt never ceases to amaze me how petty people can be. Pets have a very therapeutic effect on humans!
Hope you manage to win... I'm awaiting the results with bated breath.
