How old am I?

I apparently have this issue with my real age, and every year a few weeks before my birthday I start to forget how old I am. Truly forget, as in just can't remember exactly how old I am, and how old I am going to be. So I am forever asking Gar "how old am I?" He patiently replies with my true age, and then I am reassured once again that I am not quite as old as I thought I was.
I have this habit of making myself a year older than I really am. Don't know why, or how it happened, but the weeks leading up to my birthday are like that. And I do it every year. Well, I guess as far as issues go, it could be considered a minor one. By the way, how old am I again?

  1. What a pleasant surprise to always think you are a year older than you really are... the reverse would not be nearly as nice. Our birthdays must be close -- mine is in a few weeks too! I'm going to be 39 -- again.

  2. I forget how old i am and I'm not even 30 yet. It's denial though. I don't wanna grow up.

  3. It's been that way with me since I hit the 40's, kind of like my arms aren't long enough to hold a piece of paper to where I can focus on it!

  4. but doesn't that make it a pleasant surprise when you find out you are younger than you thought?

  5. One year my aunt had my uncle convinced he was a year older than he was! I'm getting to the point where I have to stop and think about my age; physically I feel older but mentally I feel younger!

  6. Is it bad that I'm 25 and do the same thing? I'm always asking Mr. C: "I'm 25, right?"

  8. I forget how old I am also, but then when I count back, I'm usually disappointed at how old I actually am ! Happy (upcoming?) birthday!

  9. I do the same thing! I usually have to think what year it is and subtract my birth year, but because I was born in December, it usually ends up being one year older than I actually am! Then I am so happy when I realize I am not that old, however I am still pretty old!

  11. I do the same thing..it may be an age thingy.. so WHEN is this birthday??? Inquiring minds want to know..have you ever said your age out loud? I will guess younger than me ( Just a second ..I forgot..oh ya..57!) So I think you are way younger than 57. I will guess 54..but I am not any good at guessing either. Great Photos! :)

  12. OMG, this made me laugh OUT LOUD! I do the exact same thing!

I have to count on my fingers a few times and ask someone else if I got the right number.

I remember driving with a girlfriend who's birthday is a few days after mine. I commented that I was going to be turning 40 that year and we had this long, heated debate about it because she said I was only going to be 39. All that year, I'd been preparing myself for the bit 4.0. Somewhere along the line, I'd added another year.

She never lets me forget that.

Does this mean you're celebrating a birthday soon...?

  13. You are as old as you feel, if that doesn't work try as old as you look. If that is worse then I guess you are older than dirt.
    Is your birthday coming up?

  14. I do this to. I think it started for me when I was a kid, or a teenager. When I would get past half way to my next birthday, I would start saying that I was a year older then I was. EG. Instead of saying I'm almost 17, I would say I was 17. Then I would forget that I did that and I would think I was 18 on my birthday. And now I seem to do the same thing.

  15. I am on to you HA. Bcause I do the same thing and it is so nice to have hubby say oh your not that old, and then he tells me (your a year younger.)LOL But that is ok we have to be in denial.

  16. I am the same way! I don't know if it is an unconscious attempt to deny the passing years, or just that I don't really care how old I am as long as it doesn't affect me too greatly.

I hope you have a wonderful birthday, whatever your age! :)

  17. I hear you, dear Jen ~ I often forget (or want to forget) since I feel much younger than my real age (a soul never ages) ... Happy Birthday, dear soul sister!

  19. Jen, Happy birthday! I started stewing 40 at about 36, by the time I was 40 it didn't bother me anymore. Now I'm 41 and I feel like my life has really started :) Some days I can't get as much done as I'd like, but I don't mind being my age. I have a streak of silver hair on the left hand side, up near my forehead (long hair) and my teenage son thinks its cool! He says it reminds him of Rogue on the X-men, he he.

  20. Does this mean you have a birthday soon? Well, Happy Birthday then! I tend to do the same thing. In my mind I feel younger but some days my body feels 100!

  21. Oh Jen, this made me laugh! It's my birthday on Thursday and I've spent all week trying to work out how old I am/ going to be!

Trouble is, I'm (still) 48, but usually 22 on the inside, unless it's a Monday morning after gardening all weekend - in which case I'm 73 or when I hear a good joke, when I'm about 8!!! I have NO chance of remembering my real age
