Life they say, is not about what happens to you, it is about
how you deal with it.
I agree, some of us deal with the good and the bad with relatively equal grace.
The residents of Kelowna, BC, are fighting wildfires that have consumed houses, and are showing such amazing grace, sadly under fire.
To all the firefighters, and crews, rescue workers, and residents, we wish you the best of luck.
And quick success in overcoming this terrible natural disaster.
Our hearts are with you.
It was heartwarming to hear the news team at Global BC say that the phone line that Telus had put up to accept donations for those burned out or evacuated had been so swamped with calls that it crashed! Only in B.C. I'm proud to say!
ReplyDeleteYou can tell from the singing forest smell that something bad is happening; we're only about 200 km away, too close for comfort!

Gosh, Jen, I just read about this yesterday morning on my iPhone while we were travelling for the day. My heart goes out to everyone affected by these fires, and I hope that the firefighters can get them under control soon. There's not much that is more terrifying than a wildfire.
ReplyDeleteThat community is still recovering from the last big fire. It's scary, isn't it. I can't imagine what it would be like to have my home in the path of a fast moving forest fire.
ReplyDeleteI recently found out that an old schoolmate of mine fights forest fires for a living. It's his passion. I'm sure he's there in the thick of things.
The photos you have posted today are so cool and refreshing. A wonderful contrast to the subject matter.
Praise for all the wonderful firefighters & others who give there safety up to protect others. Fire is so sad ... may they all be blessed with a quick recovery,.. TTFN ~Marydon
ReplyDeleteMy heart and prayers are with those who have lost so much and those who are risking so much to fight this fire.
ReplyDeleteKeeping the brave ones in my thoughts. It's sad to have your home burned. I lost one in a fire..
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - how terrible! I'll be thinking of them.
ReplyDeleteIt is overwhelming I am sure to watch the flames engulf the hillsides. They are lucky to get out with their families. Hopefully they had time to collect their precious memories and photographs.
ReplyDeleteA house can be rebuilt and furniture can be replaced but photographs are gone forever.
Thank goodness for the courageous firefighters and the generous people.
We had a housefire when I was a teenager and it was devestating - I can't imagine a whole community going through it. My prayers will definitely be with them!
ReplyDeleteIn the long run, Lori E is absolutely right - the memory of lost material things fades. I hope all of the people in the path of this fire and the firefighters who risk their lives to save them come out safely.
What a nice post! I just heard about this too. So sad. My prayers are with them all. -Jackie
ReplyDeleteI am like you when we were kids didn't we suck on the pit and some time get the seed out of the peach?

We're staying at a camp site just 2 hours south of Kelowna and it's very smoggy here. There is even ash drifting all the way down here. What a devastation!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, as are mine Jen.
ReplyDeleteAgree - it's so awful for all involved. Prayers and good thoughts are winging their way from this part of the country too.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen .. My husband grew up as a teenager in Kelowna .. his father managed a vineyard .. so it is striking to us to see what a mess this has become for people and nature .. there is so much stress attached to something as drastic as these fires. We hope they can contain and eliminate them SOON !
ReplyDeleteOur thoughts are with them too. My home city, Melbourne, was hit by fatal fires in February. We understand .....
