Late bloomer doubles the beauty

2010 04 11 044-1

Everyone likes the early bloomers, especially after a long winter.  But there is much to be said for the later blooming doubles.  Whether it is tulips, or this beautiful cherry tree.

2010 04 11 046-1

We would walk past it every spring and I was always amazed by it’s beauty, and the soft pink color, so spring like.

To me, it’s beauty is so worth the wait.

  10. I love photo 1. Very nice with the opened and unopened blooms. I think cherry blossoms are hard to shoot. The pink overexposes and it's hard to make them interesting up close. I never did get any good photos of my flowering cherry this year. We got hit with frost just as they were opening and they were all brown at the edges. Thanks for sharing yours.

  17. That looks like a Kwanzan cherry - I just planted 3 in my front yard. I think I'd prefer it if the bronze leaves weren't around for the flower show, but I love the puffy pink look of the tree anyway.
