Slow blogging and other “stuff”

2010 05 06 129

You might have noticed another button on the sidebar’s of my blogs, it popped up there a few days ago.  I had meant to add it, oh about a few weeks ago.  And that’s why I think that it is so perfectly suited to those of us that have the best intentions, just not enough time.

It is a slow blogging button created by another blogger called, Jennifer,[also]and she writes from her blog “Artful Greens”.  I love it by the way, the blog, the concept, and the button.

She writes to describe the slow blogging movement, similar in concept to the slow food movement.  Bloggers that post erratically, or even more rarely then that.  I try to post every few days, give or take a few days.

And with reading so many blogs, I too am thankful for those that don’t post everyday.

When your Google reader says you have over 200 unread posts,  well you get the picture. But I love to keep reading these bloggers, I just don’t have big chunks of time to do it.

And no, I am not cutting them loose. Don’t even mention it.

So slowly we meander back to the subject, slow blogging, and how you too can get this button on your blog, should you also subscribe to the feeling that it is all becoming just a little to hectic of a pace to keep up with.

Read her post, if you get a chance, it’s informative, and interesting. If you would like the button, she has the code available to download, along with instructions for those of us who need them.

Me, I will be catching up on my unread blogger’s posts, and thinking of a interesting post to write..in a few days time, give or take a few days.

Jen

Something is buzzing around Blu oom,

maybe it’s a new post.

And check out “the far side of the ocean, a new post.”

  5. Well, I definitely fit the slow blogging movement. My goal is to post once a week, and it's quite enough for me. Like you, there's no way I can keep up with daily posts from all the blogs I read. But it's nice to check in regularly.

  10. Oh I like the concept of slow blogging. I signed up to follow you today, and like you I post once or twice a week, not on a schedule, but "as the spirit moves me".

  11. Here's what I did awhile back. I stopped using Google Reader. Because the amount of unread blog posts was overwhelming. So now I just use by blog roll mainly to hop over to visit. That way I can read the last post, or go back a ways. I've posted everyday for a few days, but it isn't often I do that. Depends on what is going on. By the way, I love your photos with this post!

  12. TY for the info, Jen ... will check it out. I enjoy blogging daily as I like to educate & share ... but I know it isn't for everyone, nor do I expect everyone to enjoy or do it as do I. I am just grateful for those that 'pop in' when they can ... you are always such a fresh joy to enjoy.

    Have a fabulous week.

  13. I think I definitely fit the 'slow blogger' catagory - I'm doing well to do a post once a fortnight at the moment!

  16. I know exactly what you mean Jen. After being away for a month, on holiday, I too am not yet ready to plunge back into full time blogging for a long while.

  17. I stopped posting every day, or even trying to post every other because it felt fake, forced. I didnt even want to read those posts, why would I expect anyone else to do so you know? I have never heard of it as a concept...but I think I go check it out...when I can.

  18. My sentiments exactly. After numerous preamble apologies on my blog posts, I sort of concluded that this is just how it's going to be. I'm glad others, such as yourself are sharing similar sentiments. Thank you for the sidebar button offer. Don't know if I'll use it but it appreciate it.

  19. Love the slow blogging idea! So many of us simply don't have the time to blog daily; life gets in the way. I'm going over to read more and possibly get the button.

  20. I didn't intentionally become a Slow Blogger, but it seems that's what I am. It's gotten very quiet inside my brain and I just don't feel like I have a lot to say these days.
