Spring cleaning causes blurry vision

2010 05 24 001

I am deep in spring cleaning mode, clearing cupboards, wiping down shelves, and washing curtains.

And now I have turned my attention towards the computers hard drive.  If anything around here needs a good tossing, and turfing out, this is it.

Too many blurry photos, old outdated, and “what did I see in that” type of shots, are cluttering up the precious available space. So off goes Adobe PS, and into the archives I am diving.

Problem is, these new “yes I am officially entering middle age” progressive glasses I have just got are driving me batty.  With three zones, one for close up, one for long distance, and the middle one for computer screen reading, everything is supposed to be crystal clear.

Well it mostly is, until I lean to close to the screen, as I am habitually doing lately. And then because I haven’t moved my head correctly everything goes blurry.  Or I revert to my old habit of looking over the top of my glasses, and then nothing is clear.

So I manage to delete a few photos, and then I realize that my eyes are sore, so I need to look further out the window to relax them.  After I look out the window for a few seconds my mind starts to wander to the outdoor projects that are screaming to be tackled.  Then I look around the room, and notice that it needs to be tidied.

And back to the screen I go.  It’s a vicious circle.

The glasses are great, it’s just that this spring cleaning is giving me blurry vision.

Another reason to forgo it.

  1. Boy, am I there with you. In fact, I just made an appointment for my tired old eyes. I have the progressives too and they sure are tricky. Never did get used to them and now the whole world is a blur again.
I do love your new eyes tho....cute with the orange-red colored side pieces.
    Have a great Memorial Day

  2. The key to looking through the right part with progressives is to look "with your nose". If it is pointed at what you want to look at your eyes should be in the right part.

  3. Thank you Dar, I am tickled to hear that you llke my new specs, but do they go with my green hosta? LOL.

Lori, ah....now I see! Thank you for that great tip. That must be why everyone is always looking down their noses when they wear them.

  5. Look with your nose, and your chin. That is why people have that uncomfortable stiff necked look too!

  6. Jen, You've made my case for not getting progressives! I just pop on my computer glasses and go! I don't mind the bifocal lines either. The iphoto does need a good clean out~have you come across some really fantastic shots that you must share? gail

  7. My computer has been deathly ill the last few days -- a nasty virus(s) that is threatening to take it down for good. I can relate to a good cleaning out and purging! Good luck!

  8. So true. I've given up on cleaning much more than the basics around here, what with all the renovation dust that's a constant. I would dearly love to get rid of some clutter though. I seem to constantly be turfing stuff out. I, too, need to sort through & organize my photos. And, back them up...I'm not very good about backing up...

  12. I did the same thing the other day. Swiped photos off the hard drive. I've been wearing glasses since I was 13. And yep, I have those progressives. Don't know what I'd do without them. Except walk into walls!

  13. I wear progressives and I like them. I need new glasses as these arent' as good as they were 2 yrs ago. Aaahh spring cleaning - hate so many spring projects but it is such a good feeling to complete those tasks and mark them off the list. Don't work yourself to a frazzle. Get out and enjoy the flowers.

I am no good at purging photos..but why do I need ten shots of the same flower from different angles..it must be a serious obsession..at least I feel better I know I am not alone.
You will get used to those glasses..it just takes time:)

  17. I solved the progressive lens problem by getting bifocal contacts - I love them! I've been doing spring cleaning, too - so much work to do that I'm behind on blog reading and blog posting!
