A raincoat for my camera

_MG_0014

“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.”

Dolly Parton

OK, I will admit to not being a Pollyanna about the weather, going around exclaiming it’s liquid sunshine and all that silly“stuff.”

But after all, there have been some sunny breaks, and even a few days interspersed without any liquid additions.  People, get real, it’s a weird year, put up with it, and like Dolly says “if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.

I really like that quote, really, really, like that quote.  Maybe the next time a soggy customer comes through my till, complaining bitterly about the rain, I might just quip it back at them.

And if you see on the front page news that a cashier was injured during her shift at work due to a irate customer, then you will know it was me.

Meanwhile, I am on the lookout for a raincoat for my camera, the rain is coming back full force.

  5. I love rain(mostly), but it does lead to a lot of time, leaning on that lawnmower. Three hours out of my (very) short weekend, boo hoo! But, everything is growing (including the grass) profusely.

  6. I will admit to liking the rain so much more now that I don't need to work outside in it. Life at the Nursery did indeed center around the weather.

A good day could send us over the top, a rainy weekend could dampen our spirits to the point of saturation. That's what life is like when you depend on the weather to progress your business.

I am feeling for all of the Garden Centers around here, so far for them, it has been a
non -season, and it's more or less over. Such a small window of time to sell out everything. Maybe next year will be bountiful.

  9. Love that quote. I'm a rain complainer. It was coming down so hard last night it woke me up and kept me up. *yawn*

Those are some beautiful photos you've got there. I especially like the first one and the mirror image is a really nice touch.

  13. Last summer was rainy and cool here in Indiana, I don't think we ever even got to 90 degress. My lantana and other annuals didn't bloom and we didn't see too many butterflies. It really makes you appreciate a normal summer. I've already seen more butterfles than all of last summer.

I hope things dry out for you soon.

  19. I've been loving the rain. We have been in a technical drought for years. The DNR is thinking that we may come out of it this year as our aquifers are finally refilling. Yay rain!

  20. Jen, we even finally have enough rain that people are guiltily muttering about enough already. I am still not complaining - and after seeing your beautiful photos I remember just how gorgeous it can be. Now if we could just schedule it to only be here on Tuesdays through Thursdays. :)

  24. Hi Jen:

I am delighted to have discovered your luscious blog. I live fairly close to you -in Surrey- and so can empathize about the need for sunshine. I do, however, like the rain. After all, look how gorgeous your flowers are with the droplets on them! Photography is my passion, too. I'm looking forward to checking out your pictures and other goodies. I'm fairly new to blogging and have much to learn from sites like yours that are so welcoming and beautiful!

I am happily signed up as a Muddy Booter and will be back to visit soon...

  25. Hi, I found you through Brenda's blog which I have been reading for the past two days. Being Thursday, always loving tips on how to save in this economy, and being NOT one of the "wealthy baby boomers in retirement", thought I would check each of you lovely ladies out. BTW, I am a first wave baby boomer, retired two years ago as hubby had been retired for 7 years prior, and am wealthy in all the wonderful aspects of life that money cannot buy, but not wealthy in the financial sense at all.

I stopped in for tips on saving but was blown away by your photography. I too, love photography. Actually, your title had me going, thinking you were going to tell me where to purchase a "raincoat" for your camera at a very good price, hehe. I will be back because your photos in the rain are stunning and I need to see a lot more of your gift of seeing the world through your lens. Blessings.
