I don’t know if anyone else is suffering from the Blogger Blues, but if you are, my misery would love some company. Blogger requires me to sign in with my entire password, and user name every time I leave a comment on one of your [Blogger] blogs. This is becoming a very frustrating hassle for me. And I am getting very short tempered with Blogger.
At first, I thought that some bloggers had changed their way of leaving comments, but that wasn’t the answer. After I am forced to type in my full user name, and password for the 6th time, I am so not inclined to leave a comment. Because Blogger won’t accept it even if it is correct the first time. It’s finicky that way.
I have checked the help forums, and there are others who are experiencing this annoying difficulty also. But apparently there are not enough of us complaining for them to do anything about it.
The quick answer from Blogger was, we were not allowing third party cookies, we all do. It has not gone away. Clearing the cache is not the answer. Anyone with a working solution would be gladly received. Signing out of Gmail is not the answer for me either. Nothing seems to work.
And on the subject of comments, may I be so bold as to ask..very humbly?
For those bloggers who moderate their comments before publishing, would you please consider not also having word verification? Having to type out the word verification, along with my entire password, and user name is making me less inclined to leave comments. I am sure there are many readers out there that feel the same way, and yes we all hate spam. But you would have caught any spam comments before you published them.
Sorry, but that’s the way I feel about it, maybe you have a different opinion.
So if you are suffering from the same Blogger Blues that I am, would you please let me know what you have done to fix this? Or if you can’t seem to fix it, would you contact Blogger? The more bloggers who bring this to their attention, the better.
If you don’t suffer from the Blogger Blues, consider yourself lucky, it’s bound to catch up to you someday.
We will now return to our regularly scheduled posts, all full of flowers and good will.
Jen

let me see what happens ... until I read this post ... I only had to log in once per session. Blogger seems to have hit another rough patch with various problems. Mine was going fine so far ... Leave me a comment if you can? The others are coming thru.
ReplyDeleteIt's a learning curve. I prefer to read each comment as it comes in anyway. Common courtesy to my readers, to enjoy reading their comments. And squishing spam is very satisfying, especially since gmail lets you Report SPAM! Then the word verification is superfluous to requirements.
PS you can also check/report Blogger issues here

I will check this out on my blog. I have had some difficulty with some blogs and comment's.
ReplyDeletePatsy
I am with you on this. Sometimes I have to put in my name, blog and email before I comment. By the time I have typed all that I forgot what I wanted to say. Then I get a crazy popup and after two or three tries it says the comment was published. I sure get fed up if it is a big meme with 50+ entries. I am getting to the point I do not want to enter big memes for all of those reasons.
ReplyDeleteI don't have the sign in issues that often, and mostly after I do clear my cache and temporary files. I do agree with you about bloggers that moderate their comments. There is no need for word verification if you are modering them. And filling in those non-sense words is very time consuming.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Jen ... great photo for post! Happy Remains of July :)
ReplyDeletehmm weird, Im not right now, but for a while there there were two or three blogs that, no matter what, would not accept my comments! They just couldnt get through.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah...ugh...word verification. I hate it. I just...not my cup of tea!
You raise a good point...
ReplyDeleteand I totally agree with you. I've noticed that sometimes I have to sign in with google, but other times I don't and never more than once in a session. I neither moderate or use word verification ... sh-h-h, don't tell anyone.
What a pretty picture!
ReplyDeleteKnock on wood I haven't had the problem you're having. I sure hope it gets figured out soon. I am noticing my blog and some others loading painfully slow, which does cause me to lose patience sometimes and just turn off the computer. I haven't changed anything either.
Jen..
ReplyDeleteI too have had those very same problems/issues..
I too hate the word verification..
totally unnecessary!
mostly have had problems with retrieving comments..
sometimes they show up..
sometimes not..
and yes.. the painfully slow loading at times..
guess I've got the blogging blues also..
maybe it is just the heat!
102 today!
warm sandy hugs..
Loui♥
I feel your pain..
ReplyDeleteJen, I too find it frustrating to have to fill in my user name and password as well as a word verification and then see that my comment won't be visible until blog owner approval.
ReplyDeleterecently I have found that filling in my name and password is only necessary on the first blog, once I've signed into blogger then it is ok.
It seems that Blogger has been having various different issues lately. I have come across many lately with photo upload problems. Maybe they are growing too fast?
ReplyDeleteMonths ago I relunctantly started word verifications on my blog. I had to. As a teacher at a university, and tied to many universities, I get 5 billion emails a day, and don't have time to approve comments. Also, I was getting spammed on blog posts from years ago, so word verification was my only route, and it seems to be working. No more large penis rants for me!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that I had to erect barricades around my blog, but I was getting inundated with robo-spam. From my point of view, it is easier to use a filter that only humans (and sober people) can figure out.
ReplyDeleteI think once you've reached a certain threshhold of annoyance, you add another lock to the door. In my case, the robo-spam and ranting drunk messages from a long-ex boyfriend pushed me to my limit. I just couldn't deal with sifting through all that.
Sorry if it's a nuisance, but do consider why bog writers install such filters.
I moderate comments that are over about five days old. I'm not about to make people type in those word verification things. I groan every time I encounter a new blog, type in my comment, and then see that I have a new stumbling block called WV. I'm not having this problem. I only have to sign in when I first get on, then it never asks for it again. I'm one of the lucky ones. I use Windows Live Writer to post, then upload to Blogger. So I only read blogs on Blogger.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Blues is the best word~My feed isn't working well and I have to sign in over and over again to get into my own blog~and then there are the 503 errors!
ReplyDeleteBut, I did get to see some blues over at your other blog! gail
Arg! Thats annoying!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning, Jen,
ReplyDeleteI can feel your frustration. I was having blog trouble with that little 'follow' widget thing...it lost my picture...and it always requires a fresh sign in too. And I agree, I also dislike the word verification step. It does discourage comments, I think.
Enough of that...it's Monday Morning and we are off to a fresh start. Have a wonderful week. ~Natalie
I try to make mine as easy as possible for people to leave comments. I have never had a spam or bad comment. If I do I might change my mind ...
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, I am sorry that you are having problems. Have you tried a different browser? I use Google Chrome..it is the best by far, I only sign in once a day..unless I pop out accidently..did one of your security settings get changed..Bootsie..wasn't using your computer now was he?
ReplyDeleteI hate word verification especially if it is coupled with blog owner approval..why both..it must be a security blanket..I don't use either..guess I am just asking for trouble..but none yet:)
Cool Lily pads:)
ReplyDeleteOh, how I hate word verification!
ReplyDeleteI'm on Wordpress so I hope you don#t have these issues. Let me know if you do, please.
Hi Jen, it's summer, and hence less blog posts from me. And since our air conditioner does not cool down the guest bedroom as well as the rest of the house, well, I'm not inclined to sit in here for very long on my computer!! It's just too danged hot.
ReplyDeleteRe: the word verification to prevent spamming. I turned off my word verification long, long time ago. I have never had any issued with spammers. Really, the WV is for those who get 100s of comments, so most people can safely turn it off. If you have comment approval set up, you're already double checking everything before it posts to your blog anyway!
One more thing: I wish more people would enable their email address. If you go to User Profile, Edit Profile, and check mark the box "Show my email address", then when your comments come into my email box, I can simply reply to you, instead of having to visit your blog (which lately I haven't had much time to do!)... this facilitates more conversation and discussion between bloggers, and I have established deeper friendships with some bloggers who have their emails enabled! When email is NOT enabled, then your comment shows up in my email box with a return email of "noreply-comment@blogger.com". :-( Maybe I should do a quick blog post about this....
I haven't had the logging in issue with Blogger... I use the Firefox browser, perhaps that helps?
