All the leaves are gone

2010 11 18_4277

It happened so fast this year, first it got cold, then the leaves started to change, and a huge windstorm brushed them away.  I never even really got a chance to show you the leaves of my ginkgo tree.

They stay green, and suddenly change to golden yellow, and in a flash they shower down to the ground.  Well worth watching day by day, because if you miss a day, it’s gone.

Over, kaput!

And all the leaves are gone until the next spring.

Kind of reminds me of that Mama’s and Papa’s song...all the leaves are gone, and the skies are grey.  I love that song.

Looking forward to spring, yes, that’s me.

But there is still beauty in the bare branches, especially when the sun shines on them in the afternoon.

  2. I started singing that song as soon as I saw the first paragraph! Here the leaves fall a little each day, which is messy. But they are pretty to look at!

  3. Gorgeous ginko leaves. Our trees have been 'naked' for awhile, now. Looks like you still have some nice autumn color...

  5. Jen girl . Autumn and it's art work is gone so quickly it frustrates me to bits .. I just noticed during that time that our kiwi vines turned such a gorgeous shade of gold .. yet i wasn't quick enough to catch them .. now we have snow .. not much , but it does tidy the garden up I have to say ! LOL

  8. Winter has it's own still beauty. There is something fantastic about the bare bones of a tree. Still, the memory of the lush foliage keeps my heart tugging towards spring!

  10. Okay you know me... it is "all the leaves are brown and the sky is gray". Sorry I am a 60's music freak.
That being said I love the look of the ginko leaves. What a cool tree that is.

  13. Hi Jen. Just paid you my first visit - as a new blogger and a very, very amateur photographer (read: BEGINNER!,) I'm enormously impressed with the undeniable talent you have (and, dare I admit, a teensy bit envious).

Your photographs are superb (breath-taking!) and it's wonderful that you're able to follow your passion and, at the same time, share your creativity with the rest of us...out there...somewhere in Blog Land!
