Bring spring….in

If I had but two loaves of bread, I would sell one and buy hyacinths, for they would feed my soul.”

There are a lot of antsy gardeners and bloggers out there, and admittedly I am one of them. For us, spring can’t come soon enough, even if realistically it is months away.

We are the ones that you see trudging through the rain, or snow, with our head in the sky, not because we are looking for the sun, but because we are checking the bare branches.

Where I live the lilacs are just starting to show some green in the tightly furled buds.  A small peak of what gems there are to come. And the blueberry bushes on my deck have decided to do something different, they are swelling.

Could this be a sign that spring is thinking about paying us a visit?

Maybe it’s too soon, and everything will go back to bed again, but until it decides to wake up, I am bringing spring in.

My local corner store sells flowers, [and lets me take photos of them] it’s my favourite.  They always have a great collection of cut flowers, and potted plants.  When I am out walking I will pick up something to add some color or scent to our place. And carrying home a bouquet of tulips, well it makes my heart sing.

With the added bonus of having something color to shoot over the grey days, tulips last for ages.

And that yellow primrose, it’s sunshine in a pot.

  5. Lovely post- Yes my head was turned upward with wonder just yesterday. I was marveling at the tight buds on tree branches in 17 degree weather. Spring is a long way off here. Your tulips are gorgeous and reminded me that I need to bring up my amaryllis bulbs from their darkness in the basement! Stay well and thanks for your wonderful blog.

  6. I did like 'your' tulips. I can not wait to see them in the garden. Wow, lilacs greening up. Another plant to wait five months for.

  7. How I wish Tulips would grow in my gardens, oh wait, with the weather we have had and are having maybe I should have bought some...I am so guilty of staring at bare branches thinking, ah that's a sprig of green...only to know that really it isn't...

  14. Beautiful photographs, Jen. I love the yellow and white combination. I am attempting to force some white tulips and snowdrops - hopefully with success. Your post has reminded me that I meant to do some shopping for primroses this month. Happy New Year!
