Have you ever noticed that the neighbours only drop by when the kitchen is a mess? Or when you haven’t vacuumed for days, and it shows.
If you live in a condo, life is a little out there for all others to see, we bare all when we open our door to someone. They can see a lot more then just the entry hall. If they crane their necks just right, they can see my kitchen, my living room, and part of my bedroom.
So it’s no wonder we always keep that corner of the bed tidy.
I’m just kidding, we make the bed each morning. Really, we do.
So this Reno has been a little challenging to bear, as far as keeping it neat goes.
Having tools take up literally one quarter of our available living space for weeks, the dishwasher breaking, the kitchen sink drain breaking, and the sawdust coating everything has taken a bit.
I am wishing that we had some recessed lighting on dimmer switches that magically lowered when the front door was opened.
As the person standing at the door peers through the haze of smoke from the router, we could just let fly with a off handed remark, “oh yes we love romantic lighting, don’t you?”
So what if it’s only the pizza boy, and not the nosy neighbour.
So for this post, I thought I might show you some of the almost finished parts of the Reno, but I just couldn’t bare all.
So bear with me while I show you the shots that made it, the shinier fixtures, and the glossy countertops. Not the water speckled mirrors, or the unfinished cupboards. See the pretty green fern, that’s called a bait and switch. So you don’t notice that I was too tired to make the sink really shine.
And send a great big shout out to my Sister for grouting all of those tiles. Way to go, I owe you big time.
Thanks so much, you did an amazing job!
I also have a new found respect for anyone who chooses to do this themselves, and blog about it. How on earth do they ever get their kitchens clean enough to show the entire room?
Now for the really fun stuff...
CSN is generously giving one lucky blogger a $75.00 gift certificate.
See I made you read all of the above, but it was worth it.
And although they don’t require you to click on the link above, [see the recessed lighting link], I am sure they wouldn’t complain if you were to spend a few minutes looking there.
I have found more then one item I could definitely use.
You could say I am willing to shed a little light on the situation.

Lucky thirteen!
Good luck to all.
And if you are wondering, the photos in order of appearance are: 1. The kitchen sink, and new counters, 2. The shower curtain, I used my photos framed on the wall, 3. A really odd cut out between the kitchen and the living room, thank goodness we are not responsible for doing that! 4. The new bathroom sink, new medicine cabinet, and new countertops.

Thanks to everyone who entered, the contest is now closed.
What little bit you have dared to bare is gorgeous Jen! Looking forward to seeing some long shots...who cares what the neighbors think? It's your blogging buddies that matter, lol.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen,
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to enter me in your contest, haven't a clue what CSN is and don't think it's anywhere near Norway! However, I had to comment about the lovely renovations! Love the tile in the kitchen, I want something similar in our bathroom downstairs that the kids use. Your sister laid that?? She is amazing!!!
And yeah, I have a sign that I finally put up that reads, "My house was clean last week, sorry you missed it" as no one EVER visited me when it was clean only when it was messy- now we can have a good laugh about it!
Have a great day!!
Your place is gorgeous and I can't wait to see it all. No wonder you have people wanting to see. It is beautiful. For some reason everything here is tearing up all at the same time. My second refrig, my oven, the door on my dryer.....need I go on??? You get the picture. It all comes at one tine! Thanks for the give away.
ReplyDeleteJen it's all looking amazing. Can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteJen, I can feel your renovation pains. When we moved into our house over a year ago it was obvious a lot of work needed to be done. The rule - only one room at a time. I cannot bear to have the entire house in chaos but one room I can handle. Despite that I often find sanders in the kitchen, hammers in the hall, etc. There is consistently dust on everything. I can only imagine how you're coping doing a number of rooms all at once. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteWhat I can see of the renovation looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYou need to buy some get well cards and then when someone comes to the door you put them out quickly. That way they thing you were too sick to clean the house.
ReplyDeleteThings are looking fabulous Jen. One day everything will be put away and the rest shiny and clean and you will sigh and smile. A big smile.
Jen..
ReplyDeleteMy house is dusty, dishes on the sink, and I'm in pj's..and I look a mess..
but I've enjoyed the little peek inside at your work in progress..
enjoy..
hugs..
Loui♥
Your photos are always great...and I love your Reno! I can't wait to do my master bath...but I dread the dust and mess! Would love to win CSN!! They have so many incredible products! And I NEED some new kitchen rugs! I wouldn't want to show THAT part of my kitchen! heehee! ♥
ReplyDeleteYour renovations looks gorgeous! I'd love to win and we are doing renovations on 2 bathrooms in the next several months!
ReplyDeleteGiggle..I have almost that same faucet in my kitchen, and that bathroom sink is almost a double to mine..great minds think alike! It all looks wonderful and it is so you..especially the bathroom. Your tile looks wonderful..Turf Toter did a great job. Thanks for the peek:)
ReplyDeleteThe reno is looking great Jen.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win your giveaway at the CSN stores, I've looked through their site and could easily spend that much and more. It would be a great birthday gift for me :)
I love the shade of yellow you've chosen and the fixtures and the letters that spell Spring. The fern, though, that's the best! *wink*
ReplyDeleteJen I bought the same fern just last week (from Thirfty's!) such a beautiful green, isn't it? Good luck with your renos... our house is ALWAYS under construction (and I love it!) my husband and I tackle most of it ourselves - with some hits and some misses. Right now I'm redesigning our front steps as there was never a landing there. If I won your giveaway I'd buy something for my new porch - CSN has some lovely stuff there!
ReplyDeleteSounds like my house, wide open to those surprise visits. LOL! I really like what you have done in the redo.Your pictures of the seashells just goes so well in the bath Jen. Great touch.
ReplyDeleteThe photos look fabulous! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteWell everything you've shown looks tasteful and beautiful, good job! I love your photos on the bathroom wall. I keep thinking that someday I'll print and hang some of my garden photos but haven't done it yet.
ReplyDeleteIt will all be worth it when it's finally finished. I love the idea of lighting that dims as soon as you open the front door! Your kitchen backsplash tile is great! I'm not sure what I'd buy with your giveaway, maybe a new ceiling fan for the bedroom.
ReplyDeleteI have a sign in my kitchen that says "My idea of housework is to sweep the room with a glance."
People always stop by when my kitchen is a mess... then I have to direct them away from the kitchen in a hastey attempt to tidy up :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance of your giveaway!

Oh goodness! I love those colors, you know they are my favorite!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
Your renovation looks great, Jen--all clean and shiny. Doesn't new stuff feel good? I don't envy you the mess or, especially, the grouting to get there. After our remodel, I got rid of the grouting tools so I'd never be tempted again.
ReplyDeleteP.S. You can leave my name out of the drawing. I really just wanted to congratulate you.
Funny how I just ran across your blog. Monday I head across the great state of South Dakota to help my sister fix up the 100 year old farm house they just bought. We will be tearing up carpet, sanding hardwood floors (if they are under the carpet), stain, and paint. I appreciate the shout out to your sister. Have fu with your remodel.
ReplyDeleteI love csn! Thanks for the chance to win.

Great Blog Jen, You will have to show me how to set mine up so professionally.
ReplyDeleteLaurie
What a gorgeous shower curtain, until I got that far down your post I assumed it was lovely window curtains! If that and are you tiles (beautifully grouted ;-) ) are any indication, it will be beautiful when finished.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't think a RENO is ever PAINLESS. Small or large, they mess with our system :) Good luck and it's looking good so far!
ReplyDeleteHon you are going about this ALL wrong. A renovation is the OPTIMAL time for company. We renovated our vintage victorian farmhouse for about ten years straight. I'm not sure we're done YET.
ReplyDeleteIt was the day we put AWAY the tools, the router, the circular saw, the drywall mud, that I realized I no longer had an EXCUSE.
Somedays I still just want to leave the vacuum cleaner in the closet and chuck a drill out on the table and say "don't mind the mess, we're renovating."
