Blogs for Breakfast

Funny how things stick in your mind, and perch there like a small chirping bird.  At least until you make them fly to another branch to stop the constant noise.  Sometimes a idea for a blog post will just hop right into my mind, and it won’t budge until I do something about it.

This was one of those ideas, so to keep it quiet, I wrote it into a blog post title.  Unfortunately I didn’t bother to expand it as far as the story line goes…

So now we have “Blogs for Breakfast” a title of a post, and no story.

I was looking at the title, trying to remember why I would write anything like that, and came up blank for a little while.

But then I remembered a few weeks ago when it seemed that each and every person I spoke with was the inspiration for another blog post.  Love those times, when something triggers creativity, and it just flows like water from a hose.  The water spreads to the garden, and flowers bloom, grass grows, and it all just seems never ending.

Until the hose gets turned off, then there is a drought, and everything dies…including all of the original ideas.  I don’t like it when that happens.  No one does.

But the reason for the blog post title has come back to me.  I remember leaving a comment on a blogger’s post one morning.  I  like to spend some time during my breakfast,  looking through blogs, reading them, and leaving comments.  So I jokingly called it “blogs for breakfast.”  It was a reference to the fact that we are very much into routines, and one of mine is to turn the computer on first thing in the morning.

And I doubt that I am alone, it’s fun, and a great way to start your day.

So what’s your favourite blog reading time, after work, before work, during lunch?  Anytime?

  2. Blogs for breakfast! And then again towards end of the day. And lunch. And downtime. And late night when I can't sleep.

  3. I'm addicted. I used to check around 11:00 a.m. and again around 4 and 8 in the evening. It seems lately I'm on here a lot. But that's temporaray until I get my living/dining and kitchen back together and the weather warms up again. What else is there to do? I check out what other bloggers are doing, making, painting, building, growing....you get the picture. But never over breakfast! Have a great day! Pamela

  4. I turn the computer on when I get up and then spend time hopping through my favourite blogs and seeing what is happening in blog land. It's a great way to start the day.

  5. I turn it on about 5:30 in the morning and try to get around blogland and respond to emails before I get ready for work...stupid jobs mess up everything.
Then when I get home after a 10 shift I respond to emails again and check out blogs again.
Since we are west coast we are 3 hours behind our east coast friends and it takes a lot of catching up.

  6. I definitely have blogs for breakfast. In fact, I'm having one now. *grin* I used to visit blogs at work too, when I was taking a break, but since they put spyware on our computers, I don't do anything like that anymore. :o(

  7. Your analogy about how ideas flow is so true and so interestingly written, Jen. I also find the early morning is often when creativity and words stream more freely from the fresh waking mind onto the paper.

  8. I always check the blogs on my blog roll for updates in the morning, however, since I am in Norway, I usually wake while others are getting ready to go to bed, so my updates don´t come until later when everyone gets up. I often end up checking out blog rolls on other sites and sometimes I think I could keep clicking through links indefinitely...there is no end to blog world and it is fascinating to me. Just when I think I have come to a blog where THIS person is just amazing with a camera or interior whatever..I go to another blog and I am left with my mouth wide open thinking- WOW...another???
I am slightly addicted...but I am realizing more and more I am becoming more and more addicted to social medias...reading people´s blogs is like driving around at night and being able to see in people´s windows without actually having to go in....ewww...was that kinda freaky to say?? hahahaha...sorry... ;-) I´ll stop here and save myself from sounding REALLY strange!! :-))

  12. Interesting question. I generally blog at night at day's end. I read all of my comments (3-8) and then read all of my followers' posts, responding to as many as I can--if I have something worthy to say. I have this huge addiction to magazines, but they are so darned expensive, that I now use the beautiful blogs to sooth that need. I love the pictures and the prose. Your flowers are especially beautiful today.

  13. I do all my blog reading during the early evening when the kids have gone to bed and I'm having a relaxing brew in the newly peaceful house and before I start whatever task I have planned for the evening. Though as you can see by the time I am writing this comment, early evening often turns into later evening and I'm still browsing - blogging for breakfast would probably make my day a non starter!

  14. Jen, I am in your camp of blogs for breakfast, although I don't eat that all important meal of the day. But, I do turn on the computer first thing to see what the morning brings in the way of emails and favorite blogs. Then work until the time before bed, then it is blogs for dessert. Love the cute title.

  16. Blogging for breakfast would be my ideal time, because I'm a morning person, but I don't always have the time then. I enjoy corresponding with my blogger friends anytime really. Yours is one of my favorites. Happy gardening and blogging!

  17. Hi Jen, I have to say my blogging time is late evening when the kiddos are in bed and I'm ready to relax after a long day. It's my nightly reading :)

  19. I would love blogs for breakfast! However, my reality is that it is usually blogs after the wee toddler goes to bed. So blogs for dessert? :)

  20. I love the title! I would love to have blogs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But so far, I still need to have a day job. Hence, I usually have blogs for dessert -- after supper most evenings.

  25. I defintely like blogs for breakfast, Jen, as apparently many of us do! When I started blogging last year, I had no idea I would enjoy it so much and meet so many wonderful women who share my passion for words and photography.

And I am humbled at everyone's sincerity. The comment you left on my post about Oreo was so touching and very much appreciated...thank you for that kindness.
