Life through rose coloured glass

Pink I think!

I am bathed in a rose coloured glow.  It’s a lovely warm pinkish feeling, kind of like being in a child’s Barbie doll themed room, but better.

Reflections shimmer through my window, the glass is luminous from the huge rhododendron outside on my patio.  It’s over 14 feet tall, and most likely 35 years old.  It could use a good pruning,  but it’s blooms are so spectacular that I don’t notice it right now.

There is another huge Rhodie just to the left of “mine”, but it’s a deep red, not my favourite color at all. I am thrilled that “my” Rhododendron is this shade of pink, I feel like I won the lottery each spring when this blooms.

Stars, I see stars:

With the late spring weather, it’s even nicer this year, a burst of blooms, star like on the ends of the branches, and as they slightly fade off, another one spreads open.  There are still masses of blooms to come, and it’s been showing off for a few weeks already.

Love this color

I have seen purples, light pinks, the everyday red, and many whites.  But few of this particular shade of pink.  I am loving my rhodo.

Because life through rose colored glass is just fine with me.

  3. I have the usual gaudy rhodos but they are in my back yard and we are not out there much in the cold wet spring when they bloom so I don't really see them. I do have one soft pink one though and it is like a ray of pink sunshine in the yard when it blooms.
I like the new look here Jen. Very easy to read.

  5. Love the pictures of the rhodie flowers. I have a couple of the native ones, but they are way too small to flower. I have a privet in the front that I plan to replace with a bright, pretty rhodie. One more thing the previous owners planted that I don't like.

  9. Jen girl I am sorry I haven't been by more often .. it seems I am either IN the garden or exhausted by it? LOL .. No excuses for not dropping by friends places eh ? We had another storm whip by last night .. one crack of thunder made us all jump .. the cats go under my bed when it starts .. does Boo seem bothered by storms ?
In any case .. I love this post about the rosy glow in one very special colour and how it baths your window in it .. I wish I had that too because it seems so very special .. you can not be in a bad mood while enjoying that glow right?
Wonderful post .. made me all smiley inside : )

  10. I miss all the amazing rhodos on the west coast. While they have them here they are not nearly so prolific.

  11. I couldn't agree more. This year's wet spring has really been good to so many of our plants. Rhodies especially. Awesome photos.
