How to live your dream, when you can’t

untitled shoot-0372

How do you live your dream, when it doesn’t seem like it will ever come true?

When the horizon of reality is closer to you then the mist of your far off dreams?

You live in belief, and you live in hope.

We all have dreams, some big, some small. Some have been with us since birth, and some have just been born.

Dreams are what keep us going, they are goals, that are almost tangible.  Almost so real, that we can touch them.

So how do you live your dream when you can’t?

You live the parts of your dreams that are real right now.

Live steeped in the culture, surround yourself with items and photographs of where you want to be, or what you want to be.

No, you are not settling, you are just living in the moment, and at this time this is all you have for sure.  Who knows when living in the moment will change to the reality of living your dream.

Take it slowly, sometimes opportunities come in different shapes and sizes.  Be open to different versions of your dreams, maybe you will need to make a few changes.

I know this well, I’ve been living, dreaming, hoping, and believing.  But also realizing that what is before me, is what I get right now.

I know that we sometimes have to change our dreams a bit, be more realistic, give up some parts.  But it’s how we deal with the reality that makes the dream come true.

So live in belief, live in hope.  Dreams do come true.

  1. Beautiful words to try and live by. I also try to remind myself that "what is" right now is not necessarily forever. Sometimes it's hard work but it's important to keep hope alive.

  2. I love to dream and I think that is almost as good as when they come true! Just pondering, imagining...with some hoping in there, too! ♥

  4. Jen, what beautiful words. I love to dream and am always excited about the possibilities and what could be! I have also learnt (this year particularly) to be in the now moment no matter how good or bad, knowing that this experience is a stepping stone to help me get to my dream. Cheers to dreams and making them come true =)

  6. Jen - very cool post! The important thing about 'dreams' is that it gives you focus on the future - you live toward your dream. Every once in a while it's also good to do a 'quick check' and look back - to see your progress toward that dream, and dreams that have already been realized. (A mental validation and encouragement...)

  7. Is there a 'one step forward' tucked between the lines?

  8. Hoping, wishing, dreaming, never give up the process of living it.

  9. Love this post and I can so relate right now. Until my dream comes true, I find that I do immerse myself in everything about my dream, but I do try to look at "now" and appreciate my "now" until then...sometimes it's hard.

  10. And enjoy dreaming so, even if your dreams never come true, you've had the pleasure of thinking them through.

  11. So true. I take solace in the knowledge that it's God who put this dream in my heart, so I know it'll come to fruition, eventually. As long as I do my part, the Universe will take care of the rest.

    Amen and Amen. xoxox

  12. Dreams...the spice of life. Love your look at dreams. I might move fast on dreams though, life is too short.

  13. Wonderfully wise words, Jen! I've been guilty in the past of counting too much on 'one day...', when of course the only day we can count on is the one we're in the middle of.As John Lennon says, "Life is what happens when you're busy making plans".

I'm hoping you might get a chance to pop by my page and see the adorable baby gulls I photographed on the Station Roof in White Rock last week.Years of wanting to see them, and there they were in the most unlikely of places!!
