Are you wondering what this title has to do with my post today?
This is a easy one, some people wanted to see some more of my patio, so another slice of my patio garden pie is here for you to see. A few posts ago I published “A slice of my patio.” It’s kind of scary putting photos of your own garden out there for everyone to see. It’s easier to just remain anonymous, and not face another gardeners eyes.
Of course our gardens are works in progress, they are not perfect. True gardeners can see beauty in even bare trees, and dead grass….we can, truly! There is potential in there, really!
I love that old adage, “oh you should have seen it last week”, yes most likely you should have. But that’s last week, this is now.
And when I take my photos, there is always a broom, or a bag of garbage laying around, can’t have that, can we?
Women are notoriously bad for looking in the mirror and only seeing their flaws, gardeners are the same breed. I was trained in the retail garden industry, so I see every brown leaf, twig out of place, and flower that needs deadheading.
But only in my garden, not yours.
Truly!
I still enjoy my little deck, despite the rain, the slugs have not yet invaded, the flowers are fresh, and the leaves are green. But you should have seen it last week…..

This is a patio teaser Jen...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Jen, and I can't wait to get a taste of another slice of your patio pie!
ReplyDeleteWell Jen you are not exactly giving us the Full Monty here but it is nice to see it unfolding a little bit at a time.
ReplyDeleteJen, it looks like a little slice of heaven to me. Lovely photos. Enjoy the raindrops! Pamela
ReplyDeleteThanks for the further glimpses of your patio garden Jen. Keeping things interesting:)
ReplyDeleteLori wants the full monty? Drumroll please....
ReplyDeleteDa Da dum, da da dum....brrrrr.
Naw! I'm blushing too much, can't do it.
Maybe another time.

I finally have a few potted plants to enjoy on my balcony. Yay! No slugs, but aphids have always been a problem in my garden.
ReplyDeleteHehe, so true about only seeing the bad and the ugly in our own gardens. Love that pic of the little red-veined fern frond. What fern is that?
ReplyDeleteI thought you were going to share a new recipe--pie to indulge in on the patio with fresh, summer ingredients. And I suppose in a way you did just that. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying seeing your little slices of the patio pie. Have you started some crochet yet?
ReplyDeleteYour patio is delightful! Messy say it isn't so:)
ReplyDeleteWe should have been here tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your words, "Women are notoriously bad for looking in the mirror and only seeing their flaws, gardeners are the same breed." Thank you!!!!! I tend to think I'm the only one that has this problem and everyone else is "normal". Thank you for letting me see that this is something gardeners all share. Whew!

How true that we are often our own worse critics. The little slice of your patio is delectable!
ReplyDeleteOh, such a wonderful cozy patio!
ReplyDeleteYes it's only a little slice, but it gives a lot of promise. I love the composition of your photos, very lovely.
ReplyDeleteHow true is that ! Women peer too deeply for flaws in every aspect of their lives .. and yes ! I do that with my garden pictures too .. I should accept nature for itself ..
ReplyDeleteAs I should accept myself, for myself? LOL
