It’s referred to as the “golden hour” the last hour before sunset, and the first hour after sunrise, when there is a bronzing glow cast on everything.
Beautiful diffused light that makes photographers swoon, and everything more magical.
Since we are still walking whenever possible, I do manage to get quite a few shots taken in the golden hour. It’s my incentive to get out there and just do it, everyone needs something that motivates them. After a busy day, there have been many evenings that I would rather couch surf then walk.
Only problem is, that golden hour is coming closer and closer to our dinner time each day. So I have to get more organized in order to make it out the door before it’s too late. The camera calls like a siren, and the golden light is so appealing, it’s hard to believe that one day summer will be over…and soon.
So meanwhile I make the most of each walk, my ever patient walking friend waits while I click away, loathe to miss any photo op. The ducks, the crows, the roses, the leaves….click, click, click. This is one summer I wish to remember in greater clarity, and my camera helps me do that.
The golden hour, a glowing gift from nature.

Beautiful. The days are getting shorter, I've noticed it too...
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite time of the day. Thanks so much for sharing this post. It is exactly what I needed to read today. Just need to slow down and enjoy these moments.
ReplyDeleteYour golden hour shots are....well....they are just golden!
ReplyDeleteStunningly beautiful photos! The "golden hour" (both morning and night) is my favorite time of day. I love to go for a drive during those times. If I had your gift for photography, I would be snapping away. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, the gloaming - a beautiful part of the day for sure!
ReplyDeleteLove your new blog header.
ReplyDeleteI thought a light bulb had burned out in the bathroom when I was showering after dinner and then realized we're just losing the daylight already. So sad.
It's a tragedy that the summer is already drawing to a close, when it only just arrived!! Love your images, as always. Hope Bootsie is doing well.
ReplyDeleteIt's like summer just got here and now it's been reeled back in. Luv your golden hour shots.
ReplyDeleteThe gloaming is a magical hour - my favorite time of day.
ReplyDeleteMmmm...ditto what Jenni said. Summer waning already, no fair! Nice shots, I've been walking every day too, and I often bring my camera.
ReplyDeleteAh - such a magical hour!
ReplyDeleteThat time of the day is magical with its golden and pink sunsets. The pictures are beautiful Jen. I hate to see the days getting shorter already though. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHubby and I went for a walk at the marina at golden hour two days ago and I was enjoying the same photographing conditions. It's really beautiful, isn't it? I love your photos of the fading roses in that light. They have such a beautiful quality to them.

Beautiful photos. Love the crows -well, not their noisy cawing. I take my dog walking along with my camera and he patienly waits for me while I click away. I don't want to miss an opportunity to get a great photo and also want to savour the summer moments while they last. It is going way too fast!
ReplyDeleteLove the new header pictures! I've been so lazy about taking pictures lately in the heat and need to get myself out there during the golden hour soon! Maybe my husband will have to put the kids into bed by himself so I can take photos - now that sounds very nice :-)
ReplyDeletei've noticed the shortened days as well. I could cry thinking that fall is coming. Summers are so short on the east coast and it feels like we didn't get much of a summer at all. TIme to get outside and enjoy what's left!
ReplyDeleteYes, my favorite times of day! Your shots are lovely, and the pink flowers are stunning in the light. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeletethose pictures are gorgeous!
ReplyDeletelooove them,
elena
