I am driving my friend around the bend when we walk together, and not only because I stop every few feet to take a photo in this glorious late summer light. But add to that every piece of furniture I see for free on the street, makes me say out loud, “can I paint that.” Be it old, and decaying, falling apart, and water stained, or newish and not needed, I check it out, to see if it is a suitable candidate for my new Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. And my walking buddy cringes every time I stop..LOL.
Ever since picking up the paint at the Passionate Home in nearby Langley, I have been eyeing up my pieces of furniture to see which one of them needs a makeover. This is a little side table that I picked up in the thrift shop, there are no “before” pics sorry.
It was a uninspiring two toned brown, with shiny lacquered legs. Now it’s a peaceful antique white, shabby finished table, with a hand painted French postscript on top. The best thing about this new ASCP, is that there is no sanding. No sanding, and no priming, yes you read that right.
Ah thank you Annie Sloan for creating this amazing paint, thank you Passionate Home for being the first BC retailer stockist.
And thank you to my walking buddy for your patience…. hey, see that dresser over there, can I paint it?

With a title like this one, I had to stop in. I am like you, if I find it I will pain it. Nice job, Jen, on the lettering and the antiquing. Thanks for the heads up on the ASCP too.
ReplyDeleteI had to go and read the details. Really? no sanding or priming? just paint and there you go. Sounds like a dream and I've got just the cabinet hiding in the basement that could use some of this.
ReplyDeleteIt looks great Jen! I love the French on top...
ReplyDeleteNice! I can relate. Whenever my girlfriend and I go window shopping together, we're always saying "We could do that."
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful. I haven't the pleasure of trying the most popular paint in blogland, ASCP. I do paint a lot, just use all types of paints and sand paper!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see that you get those projects finished, mine "I can paint that" projects often languish outside or in a corner for quite some time...
ReplyDeleteIt seems like this wonderful-sounding paint just sprang out of nowhere! And now I hear about it every day. Gotta see what you do.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
That table turned out great!
ReplyDeleteWe have bought and sold this table style many times...but you have out done us!..Looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteHey did you take the crow canvas picture...wonderful job!
That is one sweet table Jen....Love it - and the lettering on top is the perfect finishing touch. I've read so much about this paint, but have not tried it (I'm a chicken when it comes to furniture redo's) - but this is sound more and more like maybe I "can" paint this!! Thanks for the testimonial (Now, finding it here in the Land of Nod is another story!!) Happy walking! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find Jen. I just love the transformation you made to it. How pretty. Everyone talks about how great Milk paint is. I will have to remember that.
ReplyDeleteOne word... GORGEOUS!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can just picture walking and talkingand stopping and some one just waiting to get going again!! I belong to that club and my friend says,, "we 're suppose to be walking for exercise!",, lovely table,,that paint transforms so many things,, makes a completely new look,,
ReplyDeleteLove the little table and how you finished it! ASCP is all over the blogs and I didn't know til now that you don't need primer. Now I need to find a dealer in N.B. I'd like to try it. Keep looking curbside for treasures! Pamela
ReplyDeleteCute table! Do you have a special place for it? I'm picturing it in a window with an overflowing vase of flowers on top of it.
ReplyDeleteThe little table is just so cute, and yes, I think that you can paint it and it will look fabulous. I do hope you post the end results.
ReplyDeleteLove the look..I wish I had seen the before! Next time! I have a few things around here to paint a different color..are the color choices endless..no primer..fantastic:)
ReplyDeleteNow that is my kind of paint!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this, Jen!!!
ReplyDeleteI have been trying to decide whether or not to paint my armoire with Annie Sloan paint - wondering if the paint fumes are strong - also wondering how tough the paint finish is... if you wouldn't mind, could you send me an email and let me know what you think? acottageinthewoods.zuzu@gmail.com
Oh, and I just used that same image from The Graphics Fairy on a tea towel that I hope to blog about soon! How about that? Great minds... :)
Hugs,
Zuzu
Luv it Jen ... and ... Happy Autumn, dear friend :)
ReplyDeleteI have chairs and tables at home which needs some repainting like what you are doing, but in my case i have to study first because i don't know anything. And ours must have the mahogany color as finish so, still hoping to find time for it. I salute you for being very diligent.
