Farewell to summer

MBD Texture Hosta leaves Sept 2011

All of the plants in the garden are gossiping about the change of season, they are saying farewell to summer.  If you turn quickly, and look over your shoulder, you can catch them whispering.  The hosta’s know it’s happening, they’ve started to drop their leaves. The Japanese Anemone is in denial, it’s simply loving this weather. And the lobelia is too blue to know it’s almost over.

The daisies bright faces are getting a little colder each night, they are starting to shiver.  And the maple is sleepy, and yawning through it’s leaves.

Farewell to summer, goodbye to sunshine, hello to pumpkins, and spices, and warm fires.

  1. Lovely farewell, Jen. We're still dancin' in the Summer sun here. Temps in mid 80's. Unseasonably warm here. Enjoying every minute.

  6. What a lovely description in words and pictures of faded summer, Jen! Since the season seemed so short here in the southwest of BC, I think I’m in denial along with that Japanese plant. :)

  7. Autum is my favourite season- so much glorious color and I love warm fuzzy sweaters and crackling fires in the fireplace!!

Your photos are stunning and I´m inspired to find some fading plants around here and try to copy you- of course I´ll never do it as well, so I´ll be back to admire your work again soon- but it´s fun to try!

    Have a great weekend! :-)
