I’ve been hanging out with a few friends lately, gathering recipes, and quotes, images, and ideas, all credited back to the original author. I have gathered so many that there are times when I wonder if I am getting anything done….but enjoying it anyways. It’s stolen time, a few minutes here, and few there. Nothing really much, just a bit of fun, and a lot of creative inspiration. The site? Pinterest.
Now some people have mentioned that they are not going to be spending their time a wasting, hanging out where I have been. It’s my choice, and it’s my time, and I need the creative outlet. For us visually creative people this is like having unlimited credit in a candy store, and no cavities ever.
I found a sign on this site that reads, “The time you enjoyed wasting, is not wasted time.” I totally agree. But there is a also a sign that reads,
Thanks Pinterest, for helping me feel creative, even though I’ve really just been sitting at my computer for the last 3 hours.
Well, it wasn’t three hours, quite….but look at what I have found and pinned to my boards, a recipe for the very best rice rolls with mango, mint, shrimp, and cilantro that’s like a explosion of delight on your tongue. Ideas for cleaning your oven glass that are so simple, you will cry, and it’s not from onions. Mind boggling beauty in images, dresses, fashion, and clever ideas for storage. Ideas for gardens, displaying collections, recipes for pretzels, and doughnuts, shoes to die for.
And here’s the best part, you can follow other peoples boards, choosing what you would like to pin to your board. It’s like having a friend with a wonderful inspiring sense of style, share her secrets with you. We all need a little more creativity in our lives, and if you would like a invitation send me your email to muddybootdreams [at] gmail.com . I am on there as Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams, look me up. I am more then willing to share, and see what you have pinned. I have heard there is a limit to how many invites you can give out at a time but all the other information that you will need is on their site.
And thanks Pinterest, I know it’s not been just 3 hours, but it’s certainly not been time wasted.

Ah, of course it's Pinterest! I love it too. I need to spend more time there because it's rejuvenating for visual types like me. I was thinking it was wasted time, too, but thanks for helping me to see its creative value.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I should. It sounds like something I'd really enjoy and I have so little time to do the things I want to, already. I think I'll just avert my eyes for the time being.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE those flowers. The intensity of the colour is exquisite!!
I think for those of us who enjoy good photography and are visual it is quite a feast for the eyes. I love the quote, "The time you enjoyed wasting, is not wasted time."
ReplyDeletePinterest is the most clever online tool in a long time. It's like someone handing you a brand new box of the "Crayola Crayons - 126 color box WITH sharpener"! (Great post.)
ReplyDeleteThat's always been one of my favorite sayings - my DH seems to think I say it a little "too" often. ;o) And I thought you were being a tease - I was wrong - you're being a beguiling temptress and an evil enabler. I DO NOT need another addiction! I've peeked on Pinterest - and was lost for hours.....Oh no....(but you do have me curious about the oven glass cleaning...);o) Happy Sunday! Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin
ReplyDeleteWow! I used that same quote about "time enjoyed/wasted" last week on a Facebook post to make myself "feel better" about a whole morning I had spent shooting flower photos instead of cleaning house or checking water for cows!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos you have here!
Cleaning oven glass? Is it a green idea??
ReplyDeleteI'll harvest your pinterest as it shows up on your Muddy Boots ;~)
Worries me I'd get addicted & not take time for my business.
ReplyDeleteTTFN ~
Have a beautiful holiday ~
Hugs,
Marydon
OH.......Pineterest...love hate !...Beautiful images!
ReplyDeleteI love that quote. I think I'll try to remember it next time I'm "wasting" my afternoon on the computer.
ReplyDeleteI took a peek at Pineterst. Quite interesting. I may return. What caught my eye was little post on the Cricut. I bought mine recently and would like to get to know more about it. Thanks for introducing us to your little gem of a secret.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first hopped on Pinterest, I immediately got sucked in to the initial candy store phenomenon. But then I realized it's true value... building my own idea boards for projects that I usually put in a file, scrapbook or on a bulletin board! I don't have to print, clip, glue or tape anymore. I just pin it! I allow myself the indulgence of getting sucked into others' boards once a week or so, but for the most part I am loving how Pinterest has streamlined the research phase of my creative process.
ReplyDeleteP.S. LOVE LOVE LOVE the photos in this post!!!!!
