Gingko leaves fall by the wayside

untitled-1288

Say it isn’t so…..the golden tinged gingko leaves are almost gone.  Blown away piece by piece by the harsh November winds, and mingling with the red of the maple, they paper the sidewalk with color.

Nothing says Winter is coming, more then bare branches.  Here one day, barren the next.

Brazenly reaching out towards the grey clouds, as if asking for more time to bask in the sun.

Denied, not to be, go to sleep.

Spring come back quick, and stay awhile this time around please.

  1. You're so fortunate to have a ginko. I love their leaves. I saw a stunning mature tree a few weeks ago near here, and I so would love to plant one here. They are truly magnificent this time of year.

  2. I love ginko leaves Jen. They always move so prettily on the breezes but in the Fall the yellow is fantastic.Great shots.

  3. If it is possible, the Gingko is even more beautiful in the fall than the spring and summer. I love finding their leaves to use as a stamp on note cards and fabric.

  4. I wish we had a Gingko to remember summer by....our leaves, like the geese and other fair-weathered fowl, have left long ago, and the ground is white. maple, oak - it doesn't matter any more - they all now are one and the same....Snatch the joy while you can....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  6. You have a gingko, how lucky. The little fans are so lovely in their autumn colours. We drove through town today and the roads and sidewalks are covered in leaves. Fall it seems is on her way out the door which can only mean snow will soon be here.

  7. Lovely, Jen! I know what you mean about the winter look of bare branches. That's what our trees are looking like now, too. There's still some pretty color here and there, but for the most part we're on snow watch now. I hope it's a mild winter...

  10. No pictures today for me!

However . . . gingko trees are among my very favourites. I don't come across them often but the shape of their leaves is gripping and their autumn colour wonderful

  11. Very pretty photos. I'm just going to embrace the fact that some plants will be sleeping while other plants are sprouting.

  12. Everyone seems to know the gingko tree. I guess we don't have them in Colorado. Your photos are really beautiful. They just seem to glow.

  14. I'm so fond of Ginkos. The shape of the leaves and the lovely golden color they become in the fall. I'm afraid nearly all our trees are bare now. Winter is coming.
