Guilty yellow liners !

Awkward family photos-0675

Much as I would like to show photos of the guilty’s license plates, I don’t dare, so you must be satisfied

with Christmas ornament shots.

The guilty are those that can’t seem to park between the yellow lines in the parking lots up here in the Okanagan.  At first I thought it was due to the snow, blurring the lines between one parking spot, and another.  They just can’t see where to park, I thought.

And then after that first snowfall disappeared, and the yellow lines became even more visible, there they were, people parking which ever way they wanted.  As if they had rushed into the parking lot, slammed the car doors, and ran into the store for a jug of milk, heedless of the rules.

They park hither, and thither, angles that seem to defy any logic.  OK, it’s not quite that bad, but if you are cruising a parking lot, searching for a spot, it does seem as if every 5th and 7th vehicle is at a angle.  Once someone starts, it starts to be a trend, and you can see a full line of vehicles parked at the same odd angle, like sheep.

Honestly we never parked like that down on the coast, it has got to be somewhat of a “Upcountry thing.”  My Husband calls it “being pretty relaxed.”

Me, I call it guilty yellow liners.

  1. I can see the door dents now....lol. I came out to my car once and some woman had parked her big Cadillac SUV on such an angle I couldn't even get back into my car.
Luckily there were only a few shops around and I managed to find her and ask her to move her car so I could get in mine.
She wasn't too happy about it but the people walking by were amazed at how she had parked.

  2. I find the drivers here to be extremely aggressive. It surprises me, because in every other way, they seem pretty laid back.

  3. Parking gets real interesting around here when it snows. :)

  4. Sort of like parking beside them at your own peril. Will I be able to get out of this parking space when I get back to the car. LOL!

  5. Ha! They must have taken driving/parking lessons in Nod! That's the "norm" here....Where I used to work, they actually had a parking patrol who would hunt down the offending employee and make them repark. (I'm not kidding you....American tax dollars at work....) ;o) Love the photos - you capture the light and magic so wonderfully....Wishing you a new year filled with magical light....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  6. LOL! Well, that happens where I live in NC too. It seems there are some drivers who just feel it is there right to park willy nilly and let the rest of us adjust to there crazy angles.

Your husband has a great attitude...I need lessons from him.
    Hugs,
    Penny

    p.s. Happy New Year!

  9. I love that on the other side of the world there are people who get parking rage just like me! Happy new year - may our parking lots be better in 2012!

  10. I find the worst offenders are found where there is a lot of snow...they seem to ignore lines whether there is snow or not ...have not been able to figure out why this correlation is real but believe me it is...

  12. He he. "Being pretty relaxed" can be dangerous when cars are involved. But in other ways, I'll bet it's a nice change of pace for you. Happy New Year!

  14. LOL Jen, I think it's definitely a country thing. We have the same issue here. Not as bad in summer, but as winter comes on the bad parking behaviour rules. Lines mean absolutely nothing anymore, double parking directly in front of the store and all while the cars are left running. Drives me batty.
