So what’s with al the spam comments lately? Thankfully Google is doing it’s job, and only a few of them fall through the cracks. But really, what are they thinking? The spammers have changed tactics and now are masquerading as readers who comment.
Not hard to see through them.

Track down those spammers Charlie, go get em.
The typical comment goes something like….”I just discovered your blog….blah blah blah, and here, click on this link to my virus.” Ah ha…sure….
Or “nice post - now buy some of my fake handbags”….sure.
Anyone else being spammed to the gills?
They are attacking my old blog posts with a vengeance, I have regularly been getting around 5 - 6 per day. And lately that has almost tripled, don’t know what I did to attract them, any answers? How many are you getting? Any, lots?
And does anyone else who has comments emailed to them through Google, find that anonymous commenters are put into the spam box right away, even if they are a regular reader, just curious.

Lovely pictures. Charlie looks determined!
ReplyDeleteI received my first spam today, which did go into my Google inbox. I didn't know about this, so was slightly puzzled by it as they were advertising a service available in Texas! It seemed a tad remote from England!
Looks like Charlie is enjoying the snow. Such pretty snow shots Jen.
ReplyDeleteI have gotten a few spam postings but not on the numbers you seem to be getting. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas/ I hope you have a Blessed New Year and find the house of your dreams.
My spam software takes care of most but monthly I get a barrage of 3-5 a day that get through and some as real comment waiting for approval...I check my spam because once in a while a real comment will end up in spam too...not sure what gives
ReplyDeleteMe parece espantoso que se utilice este medio para tales fechorías.
ReplyDeleteMe encantan tus fotos.
Un abrazo.
You can, set older posts to not accept comments - if this is bothering you. I regularly retrieve good comments from the spam filters, but rather that than even more spam.
ReplyDeleteI get more spam at Wordpress than on Blogger. Wordpress catches about 50 a day for me. Blogger only a few maybe 3 or 4 a day.
ReplyDeleteOnce in awhile one will slip through..they do make it sound like they actually read your blog.
The spam software gets them all..but people still use that word verification software..I cannot understand it. THEN some moderate comments too..ok I am done complaining now.
Charlie looks like a good walking companion..and you have snow!! :)
Don't have them a lot but those spammers do turn up now and again. I didn't even realize I had a comment spam box until about a month ago DOH! wondered what were all these funny messages...
ReplyDeleteI had to close my old posts to comments after 30 days because I was getting so much spam on them. It's not too much a problem with current posts. A few do slip by.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised at how many good comments go into my spam box! In fact, I need to check that right now! I get a lot for Uggs boots...strange! Happy New Year my friend...beautiful photos! ♥
ReplyDeleteYour new location sure is dreamy--especially with the lovely coating of snow! I haven't noticed spam comments, but I guess I should check my Blogger spam box. Can't these people find something better to do with their time?!
ReplyDeleteLove the dog in the snow!
ReplyDeleteI've recently got a whole spate of spam comments.. I delete them without bothering to read them through.
I have both my blogs set to email me with any comment left.
ReplyDeleteI find the spam goes in spurts. If you take a minute to delete them they finally get the hint and move on.
I haven't noticed any of my regular anonymous commenters in my spam box.
Hi Jen
ReplyDeletei've had a few spammers, which is why i switched from comments automatically appearing on my blog to me 'approving' them first. Good dog Charlie, you get em! Jane x
That first photo Jen stole my heart....LOVE it! As for spam comments - I've gotten a few, but I'd say less than 10 in the past 8 or 9 months....Generally from the same folks - one who wants me to visit his blog so he can fund his college education, and another ranting about the evils of American women. Go figure. And, yes, I have "good" comments go to my spam mail - even when they're not anonymous commenters are are regular followers. That many spam comments on a daily basis, though, would drive me nutty. Good luck with THAT! Smiles & New Year Hugs ~ Robin
