Slower then Molasses?

Awkward family photos-0615

Time seems to have finally slowed down a little for us today, in fact it might be slower then molasses.  That might be because no one in their right mind is letting us look at their houses during the Christmas break. Not that I would blame then, and it’s good to take a break I suppose.

Now I have a question, if you have high speed internet, do you remember dial up?  Well that’s what it feels like I have here.  See, we managed to poke this thingy into the PC tower, and it picks up the signal from the router majjigy thing, so I can use the PC instead of the laptop….but it’s slower then molasses right now.  All the time, every time.  There is some major shutter lag, oh right that’s what camera can do…LOL.  Anyways it’s almost painfully slow to read blogs with this system.  It’s also done something to the mouse, which again, is slower then molasses, with a curser that up’s and disappears with the slightest touch when it feels like it…ah computers.

Picasa is doing something weird with all of my photos, so after I work on them, and export them they disappear somewhere, and can’t be found.  Lovely, yes, but I have my PC and it’s wonderful, right?

You have no idea how many times in the last 2 days I tried to post a Christmas photo post.  At least 6 times, and each time I carved a minute out of making turkey dinner, cleaning up, and wrapping presents, the photos were not to be found. I searched, and searched, but still haven’t found them.  Life…LOL.

We are in the middle of unusually warm weather, yes that’s what they consider 0 C to be.  Very warm, and so unexpected…ahem.  Hello, it’s still cold out people.  But honestly some days in the sun, it feels like summer. The worst is yet to come, at least that’s what the old timers say.

As long as it comes slow as molasses, that’s all I care about.

  1. Hi,

    Beautiful photos!

Computer troubles is always for some strange reason extremely infuriating!
I'm having to use an old laptop at the moment that seems to run at the speed of a snail and yet it's only around 1.5 yrs old! Lol. So I too have been struggling to post things and I've been slowly adding to posts over a number of days.

  2. perhaps, when you can sort out the slow connection, the photos will reappear. All six sets, returned from limbo! Hope the house is waiting for you in the next few days. We can wish!

  3. I think it's very healthy to slow down and take a breather, especially after all the hectic activity involved with your move and then the holiday season. It will all unfold in due time.

We're eager to get a good drop of snow here. It's still such a novelty, we're kind of disappointed with the dry roads. *smile*

  5. Hey now, molasses can be a very good ingredient in life! Depends on what you´re cooking ;-) hehehe...I´m trying to play with the words, is it working? hahahaha...Anyhoot, lovely photos as usual, do you use PIcasa? WOW, I thought for sure you used something fancy like Adobe photoshop or something! I use Picasa also, so glad to know I´m using the same as you, I adore your photos...of course you probably don´t have to do as much to your photos as I do too mine ;-)
Relax and enjoy the slow days of Christmas, life will pick up and move at hyper speeds after the New Year!!!

  6. How many wireless things are going out at once..the connection will only go so fast with multiple devices. Over Christmas we had 5 computers and three or four gadgets using the signal and it was slower than normal. Patience is a virtue that we "country folk" must have. Picasa is holding your photos hostage ..interesting. Have you checked out houses for sale by owner?? :)

  7. Snowmen lights!
    So very cute!
The worst thing I've had happen when posting to my blog: I meant to backspace to erase a word, and the computer erased all the photos I had just loaded! Start over again from square one :)
I always enjoy reading your blog.
Blessings of the Christmas season to you and your family!
Best wishes for the New Year!

  10. It seems you are being given a message to continue to slow down and take it easy....as the world turns and speeds up again you will find the speed in everything..internet, finding a house, etc...here's to the slow of the end of the year!!

  11. Hi Jen, I hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas holiday there in the Okanogan.

Are you on satellite internet now? It sounds slow like ours is - just another thing to get used to when Country Living :)

    Cheers,

  12. You capture light so beautifully Jen...It just sort of dances there in your photos....But please don't even get me started on computer issues - especially connectivity ones. After years of struggling with very intermittent dial-up and arguing with the internet provider and phone company, I went to satellite. A month later, the phone company dug up our entire phone line saying it had been damaged. Really? And the satellite fiasco made for several posts worth of rantings. And even though I am now running two separate providers (don't ask!), I STILL don't have reliable service. Like the commercial says, sometimes it hard to "get connected" out here. Another reason I call it Nod.... ;o) Enjoy the sweetness of the molasses while it lingers....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

  13. Jen, I can hardly bear a slow internet. Much less my photos being messed with! I so sympathize!
