Necessity is the mother of a “toasted bagel”

Well, the correct term is necessity is the mother of invention, but in this case it’s a toaster. See there are two kitchen boxes left to be unpacked, and I seem to have lost my necessary unpacking energy.  Could be the mounds of cardboard, and newsprint that seems to multiply as soon as we turn our backs.

I had a toasted sesame seed bagels on my mind, and a craving that drove me, until I went out and bought some to appease it.  At 200 calories each, these are treats, toasted and slathered with butter they are memorable, and nothing that a few hours of unpacking won’t work off.

There wasn’t a toaster to be found, not anywhere, so that drove me to look through the last two boxes, the ones that I have been avoiding all week. Well they are the last two in the kitchen…there’s still boxes in the garage, and I think that they are multiplying also.

The boxes got unpacked, the toaster is found, and I had my toasted bagel treat, life is good. Obviously I am motivated by the thoughts of food, except I really can’t get too enthusiastic about unpacking those boxes in the garage.

Cheesecake anyone?

PS: These are all shots of “Next Door Kitty” Allie, he was Boot’s kitty nightmare, but such a sweetie to us.

  1. I am having unpacking flashbacks. I remember one time we had just moved and we had brought home food from restaurant, then realized that we didn't have any utensils or plates to put it on. We had to open and search through many boxes to find utensils. We were not happy campers. I feel your pain. Take care.

    1. Jen girl and great bagel can make up for a lot of aggravation .. for a little while at least .. and lets not forget the tea or coffee ? haha
I guess moving so often I learned to write a lot of the contents on boxes so I would not go stark raving mad " necessity the mother of sanity " ? in some cases ! haha
The Booster looks so handsome in these pictures .. the girls have a HUGE orange tiger courting or intimidating them through the deck door .. we haven't decided what he is up to yet ? "men" ? LOL

  3. Ahh yes...moving...my next is my last...on my own anyway. Someone else will have to move me after that! LOL! I'm prepping to sell and move with very high hopes that keep me motivated! What a neat feeling though to at least be there! Once there I can take my time unless of course I need a toaster for a bagel then it's throw those boxes open and dig! I'd be lost without my toaster...I toast everything!
Your cat is gorgeous! Funny...I'm trying to pack and you're trying to unpack. Good luck to both of us! Have a great weekend!

  6. Love bagels....I know all too well about unpacking. But don't you feel like you are uncovering some wonderful treasures that have been packed away? A cheesecake break does seem called for :-)

  7. Love the cat pictures, are those of Boo? He looks a bit annoyed in the last one, maybe anxious to share a bagel?

  9. I myself can't wait to see your new home all decorated and cozy. Did you ever decide on paint colors? Take a break, eat a bagel and think on it! lol

  10. How has Boots handled the move? Cats can be funny about moving. When we moved, we made sure to keep the cats in the house for weeks so that knew that they had a new home, but Mo who stayed the garage got away from us--we thought. We panicked. He is feral and bit wild. We imagined him lost forever; however, he had buried himself deep in the moving mess. All three of the cats adjusted nicely. Hope Boots has too.

  12. I keep a package of Bruegger's bagels in the freezer for a special treat! I used to eat a half for breakfast but now they are saved for 'special'! Sesame is one of my favs, too! ♥

  13. Allie is such a pretty kitty. Boo probably secretly misses him. ;o)
Now you have me hungry for a toasted bagel....and that would mean a trip to the store 1/2 hr each way.
    Why did you do that??

    :o))) Robin
