Announcing the newest variety of Hydrangea available to Okanagan gardeners, Hydrangea paniculata “Icicle.” Available anywhere the temperatures are dropping, and there is some dripping water.
We really need to get some eve droughts. Apparently no one ever bothered getting them installed before, and the freeze thaw definitely isn’t good for the plants at the foundation. And having icy water dripping down my neck every time we go through the front door just doesn’t work for me.
On another note, guess who is having his claws clipped rather close from now on? Well the Big bad Boo! that’s who. We just bought two lovely area rugs, and Boo decided that they were scratching posts, not a good idea Boo. Not even three days in the house, and they are showing signs of distress.
With laminate flooring everywhere, he is very happy to have this great big scratching post laid out for him on the floor. Now he gets to keep his feet warm, and sharpen his nails.
Well I have other plans!
Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
Sorry Jen .. about the Booster being so BAD_*SS
ReplyDeleteLOL ! ... hopefully he will stick to his own objects of distress and leave yours alone !
Now isn't that strange there are no roof gutters around the eves ? .. I'm not sure I have ever seen a house without them .. is that common out west ? .. do they have a secret we don't know about ? Another mystery from your move ! I just know you will solve it girl : )

we are missing eves in some areas as well. And it drips down my neck too. grrr.
ReplyDeleteas far as sharpened claws, our cat not only had the bad habit of sharpening nails, he also throws up everywhere, so he has been banned to the outdoors. He has his own little kitty bed in an insulated box, so he is snug warm. But guess who has taken to sharpening his nails on our baby apricot tree? grrrrr
Oh well, he and the other neighborhood cats keep the mouse population to zilch, so we put tin protection around the tree. hopefully this will work. Hope the tender tree can heal itself. :-(

Poor little Boo. He's in for a big surprise. Does he have a scratching post? I couldn't get my cats to use one until I took a piece of carpet that we'd had in front of the door for a long time (one that had all the familiar smells of the house?), and wrapped it around a 2x4 and then fastened it securely (very important) to the wall. They loved it!
ReplyDeleteLove the new variety of shrub. I hope it wasn't budding. My cousin lives in Montana and they had that problem a couple years ago AFTER everything had budded. They lost several trees and shrubs. :-(
Is that your house? Can't wait for even larger photos....think I have the comment things corrected, at least for today, lol.
ReplyDeleteMy what beautiful icicles you are growing!
ReplyDeleteOh oh Boots...I think your scratching days will soon be over...till the claws grow back ;) Yes Jen I think you need some guttering and downspouts...we sure appreciate ours that is until we realize it's time to clean them out again. We're not very good at remembering until it's too late ;) Love that little tease you've shown us of your house....I'll be watching for the 'big reveal' when you're ready. I know you'll have fun making it your own and we'll love tagging along with you as you do it. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteMaura :)
Hi Jen, Boo needs one of those carpeted pedestal home scratching post things..he could lay in it and make it his scratching spot. My daughter in Bemidji has one and it seems to do the trick for her four cats. Hers is quite tall and has several compartments and she has it in a window.
ReplyDeleteI am sure Boo is just sick about the new rugs..he must be upset with the move and all:(
Jen, have you seen those things that look like a cardboard box, you bend the top back, and there it is. It includes catnip and you sprinkle it on the box and kitty goes to town sharpening his claws. I found mine at Walmart. I find Joey just lying in it sometimes as it's comforting too. I'm sure Boo is sorry for messing w/the rug!
ReplyDeleteBeen there--know that! But your cat is just too cute!
ReplyDeleteI had to ponder eve droughts. Here we call them gutters. By any other same, they do the same. You will be glad to have them installed. I know exactly what your problem with Boo and the rugs. I keep a cat scratching pole right next to my chair to keep the cats from clawing my lovely little chair. We have to be smarter than the cats' desire to do their cat thing.
ReplyDeleteOh that rascal! No messing with the new rugs!
