I love to collect recipes, simple, delicious, healthy recipes for food that I might make someday and lovely sugar and fat laden recipes for deserts that I know I will never make, ever…well maybe? But Pinterest you are causing me problems, your gorgeous photos, and mouth-watering deserts, are making me fat. After all if I can’t immediately whip up a batch of lemon meringue cupcakes with marzipan frosting at 10:00 at night, I have to have something to make up for it don’t I? So that half empty bag of stale potato chips is the switch.
Or at 6:30 in the morning when I come across a photo of waffles, and whipping cream with dew fresh raspberries trickled down the side, swimming in a puddle of raspberry coulis, and I know that I am never going to pull that one off in this lifetime, what do I want to eat? Well it isn’t my boring plain rice cereal, and yogurt that’s for sure.
Here I sit at my computer with a ever growing pile of printed out recipes, beef and barley soup, chipotle glazed chicken with sweet potatoes…quinoa salad with dried blueberries, lime, cilantro, and crème fraiche.
Some I make, and they are delish, some I just drool over, but still I collect them and each day the pile grows higher.
Pinterest you are costing me a fortune in printer toner, and paper, quit it!
No don’t….I haven’t the heart to stop you, keep those recipes coming.

I haven't thought about it being a good source for recipes. I don't go look very often because I never get caught up on blogging! lol Enjoy your day....eat something good!
ReplyDeletenow thats the truth, I have found some really good ones on pinterest, its a great place to browse.
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny. My life on the farm is too busy to get tied down to my computer chair but, I can understand your dilemma.
ReplyDeleteI save tons of recipes but I don't print them out. I no longer buy magazines either because the stacks of them awaiting my scissors just grew and grew.
ReplyDeleteI put my laptop on the kitchen counter and make it from there. If it is a keeper I may then print it.
As for the drooling over the pages, I can't help you with that. I can barely see my screen for the drool some days and my keyboard is full of crumbs.
My favorite books to read are cook books. I am on Pinterest but didn't get to food as of yet. I don't print a recipe, I just copy and paste, then store them on my laptop. When I want to make something, I just bring the laptop to the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI only came across Pinterest this week and already love it! Fat but happy :-)
ReplyDeleteI've avoided Pinterest, fearing it will suck me in. I do, however, have a great recipe for homemade waffles should you ever decide you want to try them. So easy and they never stick to the waffle iron, yahoo.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we need to throw out our 'Recipes' category and stick with furniture photos. lol
ReplyDeleteAnother reason I have avoided Pinterest like the plague....but, I still find other blogs and such sharing recipes, and, yup - guess what's sitting on my printer out tray? A stack of recipes....
ReplyDeleteHello my dear Jen....I am here - so belatedly so...Please forgive me my absence. Yours is one blog I just can't "skim" in and out of - I know when I'm here, I'm here to drink it in richly and deeply....That's one reason that when I miss I few posts and need to hurry on, I bypass, thinking I'll come back when I have proper time. Somehow, that "proper time" has been hard to come by of late. Anyway, the rest of my "allotted" blogging time tonight will be spend here. No - I will not flood your inbox with overdue comments on past posts; but I can't promise I will be able to do my voyeurism completely and absolutely silently....We'll see.
Hope the week has been good to you so far....Smiles & Hugs ~ Your Wayward Cranky Crow.....
I have a blog that I follow that posts delicious recipes everyday. I have told her I am going to have to stop reading her first thing in the morning, because she makes me so hungry it is ruining my diet. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's too funny! I would have binders of printed out stuff if I hadn't discovered a solution for saving printer ink. I got an iPad! Then I take screenshots of the recipes I find at Pinterest, put them in a Dropbox I share with my iPad, and bring them up on the iPad in the kitchen if I ever get around to making one of the recipes. It works like a dream!

Pinterest has been likened to porn for homemakers, which gave me a big giggle. It is so addictive, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI never really got started on Pinterest, found lots of copyright issues. I was amazed to see so many of my photos and ideas pinned there without my knowledge. So in the end decided to have everything taken down (which Pinterest did very quickly) and I deleted my account. I visit lots of blogs and websites and can get ideas from there. It seems to be a site that many enjoy and spend time at, but not me.
ReplyDeleteLoving the kitties!
ReplyDeleteYep. Pinterest is so freaking addictive! I haven't given over to actually printing and using any of the recipes but my "pinned" collection is 79 pins strong.
ReplyDeleteYour kitty photos are so precious.
That first picture of the Booster is gorgeous !
ReplyDeleteMy poor brain is wrapped around the user guide to the new camera .. at least I could get the strap on plus the first lens ! LOL
I can't look at those recipes .. especially butter cream icing .. it drives me totally MAD !!! LOL
