I went for a ride on my [Birthday] bike last night, …. oh yes did I mention that’s it’s my 50th birthday present? Biking for bliss, and hopefully losing a few at the same time, I keep telling myself that it’s my birthday present to myself, to get a little more in shape, and keep moving. Feeling a little more in control each time I take that bike out on the road, even if the helmet itches. And I managed a full turn to the left, shoulder check when I turned into a side street, no mean feat for someone with a very stiff neck last week.
So how’s your personal keep it moving challenge going? Have you been getting up and moving, doing, shaking it baby? Dancing in the sunlight, riding that bike, raking the lawn? I know that I have, and although I feel achy breaky, lol, I do feel better.
I feel really good about doing this, and I thank all of you that are leaving comments saying that you are doing it also. We rock! Like we really ROCK! Yes we do!
Now onwards, and upwards, get out there and move it, let us know how you are doing.
Oh, and PS, in case you wondered, or you are new to this blog, that’s not my bike, it’s a cute old one I took pics of.

Great birthday present! Mine is still in the garage where it's been all winter. I guess it's springtime now, so no more excuses. :-) And I do have lots of raking to do!
ReplyDeleteWhewwwwww, I glad you cleared the bike picture up. As I was reading your blog, I was wondering... where did she go, to get the spokes so dirty. Happy belated Birthday.
ReplyDeleteYour birthday bike is just the BEST! I was wondering when you would ask us what we've done. I have excuses...it's raining right now! lol But I was determined to do something good for my health this week and you'll be proud to know I started taking vitamins. That may not sound BIG...but I've needed to do it forever! Thanks for the motivation! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Jen ... good for you. I wish I could ride a bike, but no.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day ~

Happy Birthday Jen. It's great you are getting out on your bike.
ReplyDeleteI miss the bike rides The Frenchman and I took to Steveston along the dyke. Here, we'll have to ride along the thin shoulder of the road and it feels like taking our life in our hands.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I didn't realize our birthdays were so close - mine was in March.
Much love,
Carolynn
Happy Birthday Jen! Fifty..so young! I wish I was 50 again..well except for the menopause/crabby all day sweaty all night part:)
ReplyDeleteWell, my week didn't go exactly as planned, but I did make it to the gym for strength training one day and yesterday I did yard work (I count that as exercise!). Tonight I will go (yes I will go - no talking myself out of it) to a Body Pump class. So, I am doing some of the stuff I hoped to do, but missed the others I had planned on.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are riding that birthday bike. A milestone bday sometimes is an incentive to change things up. So Happy Birthday and keep peddling. Ann
Happy Belated Birthday to you, Jen. Hauling out the lawnmower yesterday, I spotted my bike and will be using it this year. Meanwhile, some bending and stretching in the garden yesterday plus a cardio/stretching class today is helping to tune me up for spring!
ReplyDeleteHappy 50th, that's a great milestone. Glad you are liking your bike, they are a great way to get around.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I hope you have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteI hope your birthday was a great one, a bike was the best gift of all, it will give you hours of enjoyment, I'm hoping to get peddaling too, soon, with a guide peddler,
ReplyDeleteI like that old-vintage bike. Happy birthday, girl! You know what I do to keep fit? Not much actually but I am kind of pumped up by your post though.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of achy-breaky, uh yeah, I can relate. This last weekend was the first day I've really been able to get into the garden. I paid for it but it was worth it.
Happy 50th Jen! I hope it was a great day for you. I have been entertaining our grandson this past week so doing a lot of squats, kneels, crawling, dancing (yup), going up and downstairs, walking and raking (which I have to finish before I leave on Tuesday!). When I get home I'll have gardening to tend to and I think my hips and knees are now ready for it. :) Pamela
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful birthday!
