It’s inevitable that you will run into the same person more than once, especially in a small town like the one we now live in..many of the faces are becoming familiar to me, and I can’t quite place them…I am really bad with faces.
There are faces that I see passing me in the grocery store, and I think, “I know that person” but from where….we now live so far from where we used to, that the odds of running into anyone from the coast are pretty low. I nearly ran into a older woman in the local thrift store, and as we apologized to each other, I unexpectedly blurted out, “I know you,” “Yes you do” she replied, “I helped you clean your new home.” “Oh Mrs. Housecleaner, I am so sorry, I just couldn’t place you at first.”
I did say I was really bad at faces didn’t I, a few months ago while in a garden center in a deep discussion about dinner veggies with my husband, my gaze swept over a woman who looked familiar. Well slightly familiar…..I knew her, NO! there was no way I knew her… she looked familiar, you know those silly conversations in your mind that you hold all the time?
It was Carolynn, my blogger friend, who moved up to the Okanagan a few months before us, what are the odds that we would meet in the almost big city? We’ve only met once a few years ago, and she recognized me right away, my excuse, I’m bad with faces, and I was having a veggie discussion with my husband..lol, that’s why I couldn’t place her.
BTW, you might want to read about Carolynn’s adventures, first she gets married last year, and then her, and her husband move up here, and now….well read back a few posts in her blog and you will find out for yourself, this is one big adventure.
So there are a few more faces that I am embarrassed to say I just can’t place. And I need a bit of your help with them.
Do you know what these plants are, they are popping up in my garden, and I know they are perennials, but which ones are they?
I feel rather silly, but I just can’t place them, I’m bad with faces you know….

sorry, can't help with this, it looks familiar to me as well but with out the blossom i'm sunk! I'm really good with faces but cannot remember names! What was your name again, ha ha, just kidding!!!
ReplyDeleteThe last one looks like my hydrangea leaves that are coming up here. I never forget a face, but names often escape me now. Mother used to take me everywhere with her as she said 'you never forget a face or name'. Wellll, time has changed things a wee bit ...
ReplyDeleteLove the pink florals, Jen.
Have a lovely weekend ~

Do I look familiar? haha! I have a familiar face...no matter where I go, people stop me to ask me if I'm someone's aunt or sister. One time a young lady said I looked like a lady that her Dad dates...oh my! I don't THINK so! heeheehee!
ReplyDeleteGorgeously lush blossom shots!
ReplyDeleteI'm bad with faces too.
Would the top green one be a lily or liatris? The bottom ones are a mystery to me. I am good with faces but really have difficulty with names. Could be age related for me. Ha!
ReplyDeletegorgeous photos but I'm not good with plant names. People, a lot better! This was a great post to start the day with. :<)
ReplyDeleteHere are my guesses ... The top green shoots are some sort of daylilies and the bottom one could be beebalm/monarda.
ReplyDeleteNo idea on the plants sorry! I am bad with names....people look familiar but names?? I also have one of those 'common' faces and people always think we've met before.
ReplyDeleteI love this post! The humor... the photos... everything. As far as id'ing the plants. I'm with Pamela regarding the top green shoots. They look like lilies to me. The other ones have leaves that look a lot like lemon balm or something in the mint family but the stems and the way the leaves attach to the stems remind me of hydrangea.

Hmm, not sure what the plant is, though it looks familiar - while I'm good with faces, I'm bad with names!
ReplyDeleteHey! I never expected to see Me here! *grin* That was a funny encounter and I'm so glad we followed up on our instincts and ventured a tentative "hello" over the onions. You know better than to ask my advise on anything plant related. Good luck with your surprise garden friends.
ReplyDeleteJen,
ReplyDeleteI thought of you today and your gorgeous photographs when I was tromping through an old barn and the sun shone through and illuminated it perfectly.
blessings,
karianne
PS Love your flowers and no idea on the plants :)
Hi Jen, Ditch Lilies and Veronica? or Chocolate Mint..is the stem square? :)
ReplyDeleteHi - I agree with Crafty Gardener - top ones are daylilies and I think the bottom picture is monarda and my guess is purple rather than red. J
ReplyDeleteYes to daylily, no to monarda. Monarda's leaves are more pointed than round. It looks like eupatorium coelestinum, aka blue mist flower. I have a bunch of it and it seeds all over the place. It's very pretty, attracts pollinators, and is easy to dig up and transplant. Gorgeous photos of the pink flowers!!
ReplyDeleteBut they also look like hydrangea, esp. since a few already have flower buds that look like hydrangea flower buds! When you figure it out, let us know!
ReplyDeleteI see you got some answers to your mystery plants. I often think about the present owners of my former garden, and how they must have been mystified at soooo many different plants coming up!
ReplyDeleteJen, I agree with most everyone that the top is daylilies. But I think the bottom one might be Agastache. It reminds me a lot of my Agastache Golden Jubilee.
ReplyDeleteI am terrible with faces, too. I am so bad that I can spend an entire day with someone and if I see them out of context a few days later I don't recognize them. It has caused some very hurt feelings. I on the other hand am like Diane (Lavender Dreamer). Everyone thinks they know me. :)
ReplyDeleteoh I know that feeling. I'm terrible with both faces and names. I know I've hurt more than a few peoples feelings over the years with my ineptitude. Worse I've moved several times and met people in a new place who remind me of people I used to know and then I get confused as to who is who. I've given up hope of ever having the ability to place people. I agree with daylilies for the first photo, no idea on the second.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeletePink and aqua, my favorite combination!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you figure out what the plants are yet? Are you going to tell us?
The top ones are definitely daylilies.
The bottom ones sure look like mint to me -- any chance it's just plain ol' mint?
