I found out about Bootsie, and the simple law of physics last week. He’s a small cat in a big body, and the law of physics is all about how to bend over when you are tall. [At least that’s what my chiropractor says].
Apparently when you are tall, and you lean forward without bending your knees to pick up your too fat ahem… weight challenged cat, you will hurt your back. See, simple law of Physics. A body that bends and picks up a heavy weight at one end will tend to keep hurting until it sees a Chiropractor.
A lot of hurt that lasted all week, because that body is too stubborn to go to said Chiropractor, thinking instead the back pain will go away.
It didn’t, and it only got worse.
If you can’t walk, or get out of a chair, because your back is sore, you are not happy.
Feed the cat less, even though he continuously begs, and he will weigh less. Of course then you will have scratched ankles from a skinnier displeased and unhappy kitty, but he will weigh less.
You in turn will save money by not having to see the Chiropractor every week.
See, simple law of physics, and fat weight challenged cats.
Oh my aching back…..Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
Ha Ha for the exposé not the actual back ache. My only advice...if you're renovating don't lift any gyprock! Hang in there, actually maybe hanging from something would help?!?
ReplyDeleteI love photos of Boo. Try to remember to bend at the knees when picking up something.
ReplyDeleteCome on over and enter my giveaway.
oh the aching back, I feel your pain. Instead of a cat I tried to move a rock last week, very bad idea. Our guy has actually lost a little weight recently. Apparently the new low ash diet isn't as appetizing as Friskies.
ReplyDeleteI am not tall but have bad knees so I always bend at the waist, and Rufus is no lightweight. How come his vet and my MD have the same story... Exercise more and loose weight.
ReplyDeleteWhen Aragon came to us from the SPCA, still a teenager, she used to nip the back of our ankles. Food! then she learnt that we would feed her, without the badly brought up habits.
ReplyDeleteWe have to feed one of our cats diet food - he lives for food! Someone once brought up the theory that he acts like he is starving due to not getting enough food as a kitten, but since we know he and his momma was found when he was just born, I know that's not true!
ReplyDeleteHope your back is feeling better!
An aching back affects everything! My chiro has told me that the worst thing a person can do is bend and twist at the same time. That's what I seem to do all the time. Oh, and it helps if you have good core muscles...*hysterical laughter*
ReplyDeleteDear Bootsie,
You're adorable in any size. If it helps to know you're not alone, I've gained 3 inches on my waist since moving here. It must be the water. Repeat after me: "I am not my waistline".
P.S. I have a giveaway happening today, too! *grin*
I'm sorry to hear about your back. I will attempt to mend my tall ways!
ReplyDeletePoor Bootsie! He's just big boned ;) I have a fat cat too. I love your pic's of Boo, they make me smile as he's such a handsome lad. Cheers, Jenni
ReplyDeleteBootsie is so cute! Hope you feel better Jen, and thanks for sharing the "tall" tips!
ReplyDelete.....and I was thinking poor Jen until I got to the last picture....now it's poor Bootsie.
ReplyDeleteDon't be too hard on him.
Much sympathy on your back problems! I have had a bad back for about 20 years, ever since I ruptured two discs lifting a table. Be careful, and take care of yourself. And follow your chiropractor's advice.
ReplyDeleteLove the last pic of him sticking out his tongue at the idea of going on a diet! And I needed to be reminded that I too should get to a chiropractor!
ReplyDeleteThe Booster has nothing on my girls Jen .. you would be finished if you tried to pick one of mine up .. they are just big boned .. hum .. Main Coon and Himalayan plus Siberian mix .. so they can't help it ? .. wait a minute .. isn't that me too? eekk!
ReplyDeleteYoga is so good for your back .. I fully intend to start "back" at that .. in the Fall .. hum ? Autumn .. "Fall" is a scary word as with back + ache ... I think I have a headache now too.
The Booster is just big boned Jen .. not to worry !!
hehehehehehe
Joy
I use ice. Don't know if that will help or not. That's why I do yoga stretching. Good luck, and be careful.

Aww..I hope you are all better soon..sounds like you have been miserable..take good care of you! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Bootsie pictures, too bad about your back, hope it improves soon.
ReplyDeleteBootsie is adorable but I'm so sorry about your back. Nothing more annoying than back pain it seems. Hope all is well soon.
ReplyDeleteBack pain (or any pain) is NO fun! I hope you are doing better now.
ReplyDeleteI had a tubby butterscotch tabby that needed to lose weight. I stopped free feeding her. She was an only cat and ate out of boredom. I started feeding her a measured amount of food before I left for work and again when I got home. She lost 5 pounds in all. Happier vet, healthier cat!
ReplyDeleteI love the universal laws of cat science and physics. This one you've discovered is one I fortunately haven't had to face... Not because I don't have a fat cat (Suzette rivals Bootsie in a big way), but because my center of gravity is so low at 5'3". I hope your back heals soon.

I chuckled at your post as I fully understand where you are coming from. My cat Harry is the same.
