It was a …. potato chip kind of day

It all started when I got up maybe I should have just stayed in bed all day.  Because at the end, it was nothing more then a potato chip kind of day.  The kind of day that when you look back you go….wow, that was…pretty awful.  But as you sit there double dipping a bag of potato chips, and indulging in a bit of poor us, you realize that it could have been so much worse, and that maybe it wasn’t as bad a needing to eat the entire bag after all, so you only eat some of them.

My computer wouldn’t start this morning, the CPU thingy screen that tells me someone other then me is having hot flashes freaked out.  Usually a good dusting does it but after I unhooked everything, and cleaned house, it still wouldn’t work.  Live sessions, questions, and many techs and hours later…the files that should have been sent that morning winged their way out that evening.

The overflowing toilet really wrapped it all up.  Two hundred and fifty dollars later we were rid of a plugged line and rather grateful that it was only that.

With all the rain we have been doused with, there is massive flooding and damage to houses with rivers overflowing, and vehicles washed away in our area.

All available plumbers were up to their knees and beyond in dirty water, some basements are 3 feet under water. We only had a blocked pipe, no flood, no damage, no backed up septic tank. And that’s why it’s only a small amount of potato chips.

  1. Oh I am so sorry you had to go through this. I understand I ate a half of a container of ice cream yesterday and it was not even my favourite kind.
Your photos certainly make me smile. Hope today will be better and the weekend. Hug B

  2. Some times the problems you are experiencing can be so minor, when you just take the time to look around at what your neighbors are going through! When I have a stressful day I eat anything in sight, including baking chips!!!

  5. Plumbing problems are the worst. We had similar problems back in February, a plugged line out to the street, and they had to dig up our front flower bed. That was a two chocolate chip cookie day for sure.

  6. Every day is a potato chip day in my house. So glad to see you got your computer back up and running. Really sorry to hear about the toilet - yuck! Those photos are absolutely amazing, though, and I think the sun is expected to shine down on us today. Here's to a better day!

  7. Sorry about the bad day that could have been worse. I've been having a lot of those lately, and the hot flashes certainly don't help. ;-)

  10. Nothing makes me more nervous than computer problems. Usually a tech can help me out, and they are always so calm, which is good because I am a wreck!

The plumbing problem was fixed...thank God!

It sounds like you had a two bag of chip day!

  11. I love potato chips and there are days when I really crave them. Comfort food. :) I'm glad your clogged line was all you had to deal with. It sure is a bad situation there with the flooding and I hope it is soon over with. We're having chips for supper (along with hotdogs). :)

  12. Nothing like a day when you don't seem to be able to get anything done to drive one to snacking, the saltier the better!

  14. Why can't Mother Nature do a better job controlling herself? You have too much rain, we don't have any. But to deal with computer tech support and a plumber in one day--the Powers that Be weren't on your side, were they?

  16. You keep having one thing and another happen to this new beginning of yours. Do you ever wonder if this life long dream is just what you envisioned. Flooding could be very scary. I hope that the summer will improve for you. Valerie

  17. Good to hear it wasn't too bad and your outlook and perspective had me laughing as some days I am crunching on a whole bag too!

  18. So sorry about your day, but thank goodness you had potato chips on hand. We could sure use some of that rain if you would like to send some our way. All our lush greenery has dried up into old stale brown. Happy Canada Day this weekend.

  19. Ah yes... I was just a couple of days ahead of you as far as having a "potato chip kind of day". Our washing machine did a similar thing to your plumbing. Fortunately, like you, our repair wasn't nearly as costly as it could have been. The culprit? Two long corroded nails that have been in the innards of the machine for probably 10 years now.
