Raising money for the muffler fund

2-2009 09 18 023

Bless their noisy little hearts but it seems we

have a few obnoxious people

driving back and forth, who need to be given

some money to buy a muffler for their

decrepit old cars.

BBBBBRRRUUUUUUMMMMMMM

Pppppfffffddddddttttttttttttt

That’s the noisy red car.

BREAK MY EARDRUMS

AT 5:31 AM why don’t you?

And then again at 5:59, 7:15, and 9:45, AM and PM. And there goes that black truck that makes so much noise.

Buddy get some springs…

Why on earth do the noisy ones have to go back and forth all day?  [These are not pics of the noisy ones].

Down on the coast we had a program called Air Care, in which vehicles had to be certified road worthy before being insured, everyone hated it, and it was expensive, but it worked.  None of our little noisemakers would pass up here, we don’t have anything like it here so they have a great time driving old clunkers.

[Just joking] So we, as a neighbourhood are raising funds for a new muffler for the obnoxious people who refuse to spend a pitifully small amount on those noise reducing chunks of metal.

4-2009 09 18 028

We are going door to door collecting for a good cause, muffler for Mikey, quiet for Kevin, and soundless for Sam.

  1. Beautiful rides.

I'm with you all the way, Jen....however, some think differently. For example, the husband I hold dear once told me that he couldn't drive a vehicle that he couldn't hear. He spent good money to change the muffler on every vehicle we owned until I put my foot down on MY last two! He still drives a truck with a louder muffler than it needs to be....strictly my opinion. So, don't raise too much money for who you think may be muffler needy, it will only increase your noise level!

  2. We don't have a lot of traffic here, so seldom do we have that problem. I laughed at Marty's comment! And good luck with your quiet efforts. :-)

  3. Old cars sound noisier.., but somehow they shine better. Not too good to the ears, yet pleasant to the eyes....

  6. For me it is the motorcycles that are fairly slow and quiet until they turn the corner in front of my house and then floor it down my street. They don't do it in their own neighborhood because that wouldn't be acceptable would it!

  7. I totally sympathize. We have neighbors right across the street, I swear it is all young men living there, they have at least 15 vehicles in various states of repair and noise level parked over there, some right on the front lawn. Don't these people realize now that summer is here that their neighbors are sleeping with the windows open? They've occasionally been out there at 2 a.m. revving the engine.

So -- believe me -- I feel your pain.

  8. Around here, we have the guy across the street who loves, LOVES, to rev his car engine as loud as he can for as long as he has gas in his engine, presumably. He also burns garbage.

  9. We live off a nice quiet country road, thank goodness. Hope it gets to be quieter for you soon.

  11. It seems like the newspaper people always have the noisey cars. When they drop of papers in the wee hours it's annoying.
    Like the ca pictures.

  13. I hear ya! We live on a busy rural secondary road where traffic goes to and from the city. It starts about 5:30 am (with my husband) followed by the newspaper delivery (by car). Then it's a continuous stream between 6:45 and 7:30. The sub woofers in summer are annoying too. And motorcycles. However, we do have strict laws on noisy vehicles here in NB - mufflers included - so it's only the odd one that is really annoying.

  14. I have to agree with this. I was behind a car in a drive-thru yesterday with a loud muffler, rough idle and obnoxious fumes. Get a tune-up, Buddy!

  15. Love the photos! I can emphasize with you on the noise. We have noisy motorcycles during the summer month on our street. Good luck in raising funds!
