It’s so worth it

4-MBD OK sunsets-1598

Despite the fact that we have had

consistent daytime highs of over

30C for a month now and we feel

parched and dry, it is worth it to

leave the house.

Even if leaving the house makes

me itch uncontrollably, because

it’s allergy season for me.

And the beautiful golden

wheat fields just down the street

have caused my allergies to act up.

Are yours as bad as mine?

When they harvest the wheat the dust floats on the ever so hot air, and I itch, all over.

We try to keep the windows shut all day during the heat, but we like to open them late at night for fresh air.

I like fresh air, I don’t like itch.  I know, don’t open the windows then, but I really can’t stand air conditioning.

It was so worth it to take the camera out for a spin, even if the open windows of the truck made me itch.  Watching the sun set through those trees, and the fields turn caramel was so worth it.

Now please pass the antihistamine.

  1. U nas też upały trudne do wytrzymania. Na szczęście nie mam alergii i mogę spacerować po Twoich pięknych miejscach pokazanych na zdjęciach, bez problemów. Pozdrawiam.
We also heat unbearable. Luckily I do not have allergies, and I can walk on your beautiful places shown in the pictures, no problems. Yours.

  4. Wow. The photos are gorgeous. Worth the itch, I'd say, but then I am lucky not to have allergies. Here the wheat fields are miles away, but corn is just down the road. Silage corn is left to dry before it is cut, creating a lot of dust in the air. I don't itch, but my sinuses get plugged. As you, I like sleeping with the windows open. Thankfully harvest is seasonal and we do survive.

  5. As I aged, my August (fall) alergies have have decreased. Oh, but do I ever remember the days when I prayed for a hard freeze. Good luck with it all. Love you photos!!

  9. After years of congestion, sneezing, watery eyes, and going through boxes of tissues, I broke down and went to an allergist for a skin test. It appears that I am allergic to nearly every pollen and spore in addition to cats and horses. It looks like my battle will continue to be year round. Thankfully, no itching is involved.

Take good care, and thanks for venturing into the open for the gorgeous photos.

  11. Lovely photos!

Have you tried Zyrtec? It comes in a generic form (Allertec) at Costco. I take one every night and it helps me a lot!

  13. These are such pretty pics, Jen. This is allergy season for me, also. Each Monday, when the guys cut our grass, I have to stay in and keep the windows closed. Like you, I enjoy fresh air through an open window!

  14. Yep, same issues here. My allergies usually hit in mid-Summer--I've always associated them with Corn tasseling. But everything is later this year. Once the Corn is done and the mold settles down, I'm usually OK. Gorgeous photos--definitely worth the sniffles. But I hope you get some relief soon.

  15. Poor you to have such terrible allergies, it must take some of the fun out of summer.

  16. This has been a terrible allergy season for me so I can really sympathize with you. I itch and can't breathe. It's not fun. Especially for those of us who love to be outdoors and hate A/C. Hope yours passes soon.

    Hugs,
    Laura
