Every time I peek through
the doorway, I can’t believe my
eyes, it’s nearly finished, and
I love it. It’s not just the change
of color, it’s that the entire space
feels different, creative, nurturing
full of possibilities.
My studio is in bloom, and
I can feel my creative
spirit rejuvenating itself.
That color has bothered me
from the first day we saw it.
These new changes are feeling great from the wall tattoo over the door, with the quote by Emily Dickenson, “Dwell in possibilities” to the cute little turquoise bird houses lined up on the shelf, it’s inspiring, calm, and personal, and creative. I love the creamy background, the room feels larger, brighter, and warmer.
On the wall besides the door there is a mini art gallery space where I can line up my framed photos, I love that idea, and have always wanted to do that. Behind the door I plan on hanging all of my wrapping supplies so they are ready to use, without any visual clutter.
My drafting desk sits next to the window, and a Streptocarpus is blooming it’s heart out with the bright light. Many times I have set up old barn board, or a piece of velvet and used the desk as a quick photo studio.
The shelving on the wall is more then something pretty to look at. Ribbons, and crafting pretties are stored in the boxes sitting on the shelves.
Paper, oh do I have paper, all stored in the open closet right behind where I sit, easier to be creative when you don’t look at it all day long.
Not quite tidy enough to share a photo yet, there are shelves and drawers holding all of my crafting paper, tools, and glues.
The wall opposite the drafting desk houses an antique zinc topped table with my sewing machine always ready for action.
Double inspiration boards above that table, are filled with creative bits and pieces, and can be easily changed out should a idea start to take shape.
From a cold periwinkle, gloomy guest room, to a cheerful, bright inventive room that inspires me, and urges me to sit down and create, it’s amazing what a studio in bloom can do for your heart.
Happy….Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
Good morning Jen ~ What a lovely creative space you have. My space is a wreck with beads, hoops, threads, etc. all sitting out. This morning when I came in here though, I felt motivated to create, and your post inspires me further.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your sweet space.

Congratulations Jen on tackling those renovations and making that house your own. So nice to have a room of your own that you love being in.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful room! I need to simplify my crafting space when I get back to Florida. I have so much stuff out that I can't SEE it! I get confused and don't know where to start! Enjoy your day...you always inspire me to be better!
ReplyDeleteIt’s amazing what a friend in bloom can do for your heart. Jen, your room is absolutely lovely. I love your desk under the window. It is a dream space come true. You have outdone yourself. Happy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteGood morning Jen, I have a room that was supposed to be my crafting, floral design, sewing room.. It is now just a plain, old fashioned mess.
ReplyDeleteYour room and paint color is so pretty and refreshing. Sooo organized.
I hope you will enjoy many pleasant hours in your room doing the things that you love to do best.
Happy Sunday,
Charlotte in Va.
PS Our Boo kitty is still holding on. He had some steak for his dinner last night and a couple little tidbits of doughnut this morning as a treat..
What a pretty space..it is so "you"! I knew there would be boxes and spaces to work and create..lovely space..you did great!
ReplyDeleteNow about that greenhouse pot..the green plastic one..cover it up..it is driving me nuts:)
Jen, your studio looks terrific so far. I love seeing pictures of special places where the "magic" happens. I'll look forward to other photos when you've got the room just the way you want it. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Congratulations Jen! Beautiful space to work in, can't wait to see what you create... my studio is still on the bucket list and was supposed to happen this year but didn't, so the plan is indeed for next year... can't wait! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a perfect place to be inspired and to create beautiful things. Just lovely Jen. :<)
ReplyDeleteJen girl I missed seeing this when last I e-mailed !
ReplyDeleteIt is brilliant : ) and you have used ideas that I have thought of too.
I want a calm, VERY pale yellow .. it gives me a calm feeling so of course that is what works for me.
I also want to go with brown accents .. it is hard at this point to really plan (although I see the very plain clean lines of an "L" shaped desk I want !) ..
Sorry your wrist is sore .. I have to use a small roller for large areas .. but I know John will help with that too .. did you use a primer and then paint ? or a paint with primer in it ? .. there is a bright blue in "my" room right now so that has to be subdued to get the creamy yellow on .. Congratulations on a beautiful budding new studio girl !

I love it! You didn't tell me you were creating a studio when we got together last! Mine is still very much a makeshift space. I desperately need storage space for all my books & magazines and art supplies. The walls are a pale lavender...not my colour at all, but I can't repaint because we're renting and have been given strict instructions about that. I'm still tweaking and making do. I'm envious of your space. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI love the room. amazing what paint can do, isn't it? You will love spending time there creating and I do imagine that your blog friends will enjoy some of that creativity.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely Jen! Another part of the dream coming true! Love the color and the accessories. It's always fun to see where a blog friend creates; thx for sharing your pretty new space!
ReplyDeleteNow that room is so beautiful! You are going to be so happy creating away! I love the color. So clean and fresh. You don't want to see mine!
ReplyDeleteJen, I love your new studio! It looks like a beautiful spot to work and create. The wall colour looks like our living area's colour - a soft cream. I noticed you have a Hoya plant on the shelf. Has it ever bloomed? I have a huge one that is about 50 years old! It was my mother's. It hasn't bloomed for a few years for some reason. It used to bloom a lot. The perfume is very heady but the blooms are gorgeous. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteLove the new look of your beautiful studio, Jen. I think color can make such a difference in one's life. Like that quote too! Happy creations! :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's all so wonderful! I can see why you're so happy about the new space. How fantastic to have the natural light for photography, too. Love the sign!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your refurbished study makes you so happy. New paint and some reorganization can give a space a new and different feel.
ReplyDeleteJen, I am so happy you have shared your room with us. I love what you have done. How wonderful it will be to have this beautiful creative space to spend time in when the cold weather months come. You have inspired me.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Laura
Lovely! it looks warm and inviting..I didn't have chocolate, so I didn't get far, but it's a new day today. Have a great one!
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely! No wonder you feel inspired and ready to create. I would too! I've been threatening to repaint my studio and can't get up the gumption to do it. My hat's off to you!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like its really coming together. Your touches throughout the space make it so beautiful. What a wonderful creative space!
