Thinking alike, when someone else posts your idea first

We live in a big inspiring world

the internet is buzzing all the time

the inspiration and creativity that

is out there is amazing but it can

seem that it’s just a tiny village

when someone else posts your

idea before you do.

It’s eerie, and it’s happened

to me a lot lately.

It might even happen to

you. It’s normal, relax no one

is copycatting. It’s just thinking along the same lines.

A few bloggers have mentioned that it seems we are on the same path, thinking the same thoughts lately.  That’s normal if you think of it, you read other blogs because you like the style of the blogger, it’s usually because there is some familiar threads that you are both connecting to.

If more then one artist weaves with the same color thread that doesn’t mean that the tapestries will have the same design or even look alike.

So what’s a blogger to do?  I say continue on, this is a big world, and  unless you are copying the text, and photos exactly, it’s your voice and perspective that will shine through.

I get inspired by so many different influences, we all do, that’s how we create, and we all see it differently, and use different parts of what we see to create.

Let’s take a closer look at that tapestry that this artist created, there is a rushing stream, the sun is shining through the beautiful leaves in changing colors, the russets, auburns, gold's, and greens just glow.  Did you see the squirrel hiding nuts in the crook of the tree?  Did I?  What about the deer that peeked it’s head over by that bush, oh you saw a rabbit, I missed that. We all get something different from the same scene, and isn’t it wonderful that we do?

Keep on posting…..Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams

On another note, we have a Snow Daze winner! Congrats to Lady Fi, who was the closest in her first snowfall prediction for the Okanagan ….[sigh, thanks a lot for the early snowfall Lady Fi] …email me with your details and I will send you the pack of Muddy Boot Dreams cards.

  1. I've noticed this phenomena Jen and totally agree. I love that you are affirming that we all need to honor our own voice and give ourselves permission to speak/write/post.

  2. I've noticed it a time or two and it's always amazing, because we didn't exactly write the same thing, we wrote our expressions of a thought or idea that happened to come about at the same time.

Your photos are awesome. We are in for a LOT of rain from Hurricane Sandy for the next two days or so.

  3. so true, its a small world for sure when two people a thousand miles apart write about the same subject, small but yet so big, we have had our first snow fall too, thank goodness it left as quickly as it came!! Have a wonderful day!!!!

  5. I don't think it has happened to me but I know that since I post mostly about the goings on in my life, no one is going to have such a crazy post!! ;-D

  9. By the time I post most things someone else has beat me to it. I don't think any of them would have the exact same perspective though since I tend to look at things from a crazy point of view.

  10. Great minds love falling leaves and bales of hay in fields in the autumn of the year....we also love the snow and sleet and barren branches in winter, fresh sprigs in spring and hot air in summer. Who could possibly be the copy cat if we all love to take pictures of what's in our own back yard.

  11. lol. I have posted photos of fields with those big hay bales too. It's not copying when others do so, it's just that beautiful things are bound to be appreciated by more than one person. I have a photo of our maple tree and driveway on a foggy day - which I am soon going to post. I realize that many people have maple trees and driveways and foggy days. I'm just pleased when I discover that others see beauty in the same things I do.

  13. someone else wrote, that nothing is truly original, we all get our ideas and inspiration from somewhere. It can be fascinating to pull together a few blog posts, gather us together, and send us on a blog hop!

  14. Ah snow! So early! And I agree with your advice to keep blogging and creating, we all have our own spin on similar topics, that's what makes it interesting! Ann

  16. I like this topic. I've had this happen to me. I had a title in my head and ready to publish my work until a dirty bird(whom I love) got to the title first:) And then I was like "Darn!" So instead of being creative, I just stuck with the plain jane name:)

Recently another blogger and myself have gone on several adventures together and we don't discuss the titles of our blogs or how we think about the experience. And it has been fun sharing these experiences from our different points of views....and the titles have been very creative as have the pics:)

Your words are so true. Love the blogging community.

  17. Snow already, eh, Jen? I guess that makes the dog days officially over. Such lovely photos, as always. Stay warm.

  18. You're so correct. We could all be given the same subject, and each and everyone would have their own way of addressing it, and making it their own creativity!!! Love your photos from today!!!

  19. We had our first snow last night with more tonight. The first has already melted away. I went out early to take photos; now I have something to write about in the next blog. And so will every other blogger when their first snow comes. We are of one great mind. Your home is so beautiful in the fall. Just gorgeous in your photos.

  20. Hi Jen... (brought my laptop to the hotel, LOL!)... very true words, and like you said to me, we all say it differently! Especially for creative people; we obtain our ideas and inspiration from what other people are saying/doing... and if we like what they are saying/doing, then it is not unusual they could be thinking about the same thing at the same time because ideas can be sparked by just one word! Hugs.

  21. I agree, sometimes I run across a blog or two that posted something similar to mine. Just happens some people are on the same wavelength with others. I find that your photography greatly inspires me to seek the next great photo. I hope to get out more soon to do that. You also inspired me to do a banner shot for my blog and hope to come up with something new this weekend before my mac goes to the fix-it shop for the week.

  22. So true, Jen. And pretty soon we'll all be posting about snow. Ugh. I love your photos with the hay bales. Lovely autumn images--I can't get enough of them!

  23. I agree, Jen. We are all interconnected and what is transpiring around us encourages us to write. I love reading different perspectives on the same idea. It broadens my own thinking.

    Hugs,
    Laura

  24. Love your words and as always, your pics are divine, Jen. I'm "cheerfully" posting snow pics. Truth be told... I'm so not ready for cold. Winter's giving us a tease... but hey! Not so bad. It provided a lovely photo op for my few remaining blooms to strut their stuff. Snow melted and the sun was radiant. Today the promise of more sun.
