Frozen fog, and frigid toes

1-Fog Scenes_-30

I love fog, and it was worth

it to have frigid toes this

morning as I scraped the

thin cover of ice off of the

windshield. What I don’t do

for this blog, right?

You don’t know from day to

day what kind of morning

weather you will wake up to

here, and since the garage is

full of branches for another

Christmas blogging project

I couldn’t park the truck in there.

Should I go, or should I stay?  How badly did I want to take those fog photos?  Pretty badly I think, cause I went.

I kept looking out the window at the fog, judging if I should go outside, or stay where it’s nice and warm….Warm is a relative term, it’s my version of freezing in here, but my husband isn’t cold, and can’t be convinced that the heat needs to be about 10 degrees warmer.  Do you have that problem, or are you a winter hottie?

Common sense won out, I needed the photos, so outside I went. It’s a brrr damp cold outside, because of the unusual amount of rain we have had.  Damp that seeps into your toes when all you are wearing is gardening clogs…

But I got them, and celebrated by making cake doughnuts this afternoon in my new cake doughnut pan, another Pinterest pin, that I loved.

Well worth it, and so easy to make.  It will be our little secret that the reason I bake so much is because it warms up the house…

  1. beautiful photos, it was soooo worth it.
I saw that on pinterest and the apple cider doughnuts they baked in that pan were seriously calling my name, I can't seem to find the pan though, I could online but is probably best I don't!

  3. Lovely shots and you never said you would figure out next how to mail us your taste of donuts to Canada.

They sound so yummy. You must show and tell them atleast on here.

    Have a great day.

A donut and a coffee sounds delicious.

  7. LOL. I think a lot of us have caught on to the 'baking for warmth' trick. :-) We also wear a lot of polar fleece. But damp cold? Can't stand it. When it's damp and cold all I want to do is huddle in a heap.

    Beautiful photos, you dedicated photographer!!

  8. Fog is magical and makes wonderful atmosphere to photos.

I often wear layers to stay warm - peeling or adding as necessary.

Cake donuts are my favorite, but I haven't eaten one in years. Dunk one for me today.

  9. What gorgeous photos. The fog makes for a romantic and mysterious landscape and you have captured that. Cider donuts are welcome in fog or sun.

  13. I think it was well worth the frozen tootsies to get those shots! And any excuse to bake is okay in my book. Hubby and I do the same thing--bake to warm up the house.

  15. If I didn't have a dog who had to pee, I would never get outside to take photos in inclement weather. Or early in the morning. Or at dusk. Or....*grin*

  16. Thanks for braving the cold to get such beautiful photos for us! I keep hoping for a foggy morning when I don't have to go to work, so I can get some nice images. I am cold-natured; my husband is the opposite and thinks anything above 68 F is too warm! The result is that I stay cold from November through February. I find myself wearing jackets inside the house! Dear hubby makes up for it by keeping a nice fire going on the hearth.

  17. You are brave! I've been too much of a wimp lately. But you've inspired me to change my lazy ways and sacrifice my fingertips for my blog. Well, maybe...

  18. Beautiful foggy photos. I've been known to suggest going for a walk just to get some photos for the blog myself.
It's been chilly - I'm writing this with a heating pad at my back and it feels wonderful!

  19. Certainly worth the effort to catch a few fog photos. I like the house cooler. Hot flashes, still. We have a gas fireplace that we use to warm things up, but I like your idea--baking. I love the fog and your photos have that etherial foggy quality.

  22. LOL, Jen I thought I was the only one!! Our kitchen is absolutely freezing for 8 months of the year and one of my 'secrets' has been to bake to try and warm it up in there.
