We had to make a trip recently
to the big city allergy Doctor, so
I could further pursue the
eternal question of why are
my allergies so bad.
Unfortunately the map supplied
along with the do’s and don’ts
such as “cancel without 48 hr.
notice you will be fined $100”
and don’t do this, don’t do that,
was faulty.
That’s my story and I am sticking to it.
These shots are all from my camera phone, and taken in case we lost our way.
Really, it’s not my fault they are more adept at making people well, then they are at drawing navigational maps.
Everyone should know their strengths, and obviously mine is not navigating, and theirs is not map making.
After being lost for ages my driver, [husband] who thinks I am allergic to navigating “where do I turn?
Me: “yes, turn, go right, no go ……Him:” WHERE? Here! WHERE, there is no road!
“Just wait a minute, sound of paper rustling, turning, twisting…oh man, I’m going to get car sick, you know I can’t read when you drive.”
There are vehicles behind us, which way do I turn? Me: Ummm turn? Here?
Him: You know there’s a lake on that side of the road don’t you?
Me: Well my Mom said it was 4 blocks past the hospital, and now it’s all residential, so I guess it’s 4 blocks the other way.
Him: You mean left, like I said before?
Ummmmm no….. the map doesn’t work.
Him: Sweetie your navigation skills are not just lacking, you have the map upside down.
We finally found the office with minutes to spare, and saved ourselves the $100 fine, but apparently I am not going to be navigating anymore, now that him and his little GPS thingy are all buddy buddy….
Cause this navigator is allergic to maps.

oh my gosh thats so funny, I hope the allergy doctors can help,
ReplyDeleteI love my GPS!!! Good luck, and I hope they find the cause of all your problems.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Sorry, Jen, you've been replaced. Too funny. But glad you made it to the appt. on time. My daughter, who had a bunch of allergies, went on the 'paleo' diet and her allergies disappeared. No kidding. She eats only meat, vegetables, fruit, and nuts. But no more allergies - and no more pumpkin pie. wah.
ReplyDeleterecalculating ... recalculating ... I love that term on the GPS when we don't turn the way they suggested.
ReplyDeleteHope you can solve the mystery of the allergies.
I dont do maps either. If it wasnt for Mapquest dot com , to give me explicit directions which I then print out and take with me, I'd still be LOST..
ReplyDeletemy daughter loves her GPS too. Maybe I need 1 or 3 of those lol
how are your allergies by the way? after years I finally got mine well under control when I changed the food I was eating.
come to find out food allergies were my main issue , thus the dust pollen and such allergies couldnt get better as I was still putting , what was for me, poisen into my system via the food.
hugs
good morning Jen~
ReplyDeleteI too am not a good map reading navigator!
Like Sonny above,Mapquest is my buddy when learning a new area/direction..
(I especially like the photo landmarks which can be included for each turn!)
above all..should I become directionally confused..
I have no problem in stopping to ask directions!!!
hope the allergy thing is resolved very soon!
hugs..
Loui♥
I use my GPS all the time in strange surroundings, but I also carry maps. Sometimes my GPS is "allergic" to navigating, too.
ReplyDeleteBut now you know where to go, you'll need neither map nor robot.
ReplyDeleteAt least you made it there on time. I hope the visit was fruitful.
ReplyDeleteLaughed all the way through the post. Don't despair. The new relationship between your husband and the GPS will actually make future trips so much more enjoyable. LOL. Have a day of GOOD.
ReplyDelete(snicker)... me too.... cannot read a map to save my life! ...didn't realize it could be allergies (snicker)... lovely photos! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteWhat a trip . . . lol. Glad you made your appointment on time and had your photo bread crumbs to follow on the way back home. Happy weekend, Jen.
ReplyDeleteWe have an agreement, when on quiet country roads - I drive, and he loves navigating. In busy city traffic, while I'm still trying to work out which page we are on, which way is up - he finds his own way.
ReplyDeleteThat sounded like Papa and I before he got his GPS lol ! I hope you feel better and your allergies get under control ! Cool post and photos ! Have a good weekend !
ReplyDeleteI never knew there was a allergy related to map reading.I have it too. Your post made me laugh. Sounded like me and my hubby.
ReplyDeleteThis is terribly funny, Jen, mostly because it is so true of my map reading skills. Thanks heaven for the GPS!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Hope the docs can figure out your allergies. I laughed at your post, so funny reading it.
ReplyDeleteI do not like GPS and actually rely on maps and mapquest...call me quirky...but I am also spatially disabled and am forced to navigate so I can hone my skills or frustrate all.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the laugh, Jen. I really needed it. I'm actually a really good navigator, but I can't read maps in the car either,'cause I get car sick.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Lauaara
Very funny, and sounds familiar - except both my spouse and I are directionally challenged.
ReplyDeleteYour narrative is hilarious!!! It's so funny, I'm going to go share it with Hubby.
ReplyDeleteHa..you read maps like me! We have the same kind of conversations:)
ReplyDeleteHa! Navigating with a map is not a problem for me, just don't set me out in the middle of a prairie field and ask me to face north.
ReplyDeleteUmmm..before hubby and little Miss GPS get too cozy, you might want to let him know that she can be a bit fickle. My GPS always tells me to turn Right at the end of our driveway to get to town, when town is actually located to the Left. Not a big deal, if you don't mind going the long way.
