Tis the season …. of joy

1-Joy Christmas-29

“Joy is what happens

to us when we allow

ourselves to

recognize

how good

things really are.”

Marianne Williamson

I love this, it’s a simple quote, but so true.

2-Joy Christmas-40

I’m doing my best to recognize it, some days it harder then others.

Other days it’s so simple and abounding.

3-Joy Christmas-34

How is it for you?

  3. I am with you in trying to recognize it...I recently had a bad fight with my mother who cannot recognize joy in her life right now...but going through our feelings is necessary just not wallowing in them...I will remember this and try to help her recognize the joys around her and me. Thanks Jen...such a lovely post!

  6. I suppose this is the season when joy is a word we tend to ponder more than we usually do. Perhaps it is the changing of the weather and we want to make sure we hang onto a feeling that is more resilient than happiness. It is funny, though, how I focused on it, too. :)

  7. Love these photos! I find my joy in the Lord and in knowing he loves me even when I don't feel so joyful. I just think of His great love for me when I'm feeling down or sad and that joy is renewed. Enjoy the day. :)

  8. I always say "You are as happy as you want to be". When I remember those words I am better able to put aside problems and feel the everyday joy in life.
Plus I vent a lot so that helps lol.

  9. Joy, to me, is knowing that God is in control and nothing happens beyond his control, even when things appear very bleak. Joy transcends our circumstances and gives us hope that everything will turn out right in the end.

Beautiful centerpiece, by the way. I'm going to do my best to copy it. :-)

  10. Your photo’s today represent simple elegance to me. Contentment is what I seek at this time although sometimes when that sense of pure joy bubbles up unexpectedly it’s bliss. Have a joyfilled day, Jen.

  11. Beautiful pictures. Joyful.

Joy for me is knowing that God is all good, is in control, guiding and directing our lives, and is supplying all that we really need.

I'll share that I put together a few branches, evergreens, and lights in an empty planter, inspired by your post a few days ago. It looks great. Thanks for your ideas and beautiful pictures!

  14. One moment of joy can lead to hours of contented bliss... so when we seek joy everyday through the simple things in life, then we will have contentment of our lives! Cheers.

  15. I try so hard to realize how lucky I am to be where I'm at in my life. There are days, I kinda forget how much I have to be grateful for and that definitely takes the joy away.

Must try harder to not let that happen.

  16. It's a great quote. I love your photos. Growing up, a neighbor had a tree with the itty bitty pinecones and I just loved them!
