Hi, first let me ask you if you recognize what that hidden lump under the snow is?
Yes, it’s a picnic table…can you believe it? Then I would like to clear up any misconceptions that
I am complaining about the snow now why on earth would I do that? I’m learning to appreciate it.
It’s only going to be complained about in March and beyond, then I won’t be happy if it is still
here.
It’s snow, there is a lot of it we learn to deal with it.
At least it’s brighter outside now, and yesterday it was lovely…there was actual sun
for about a half hour.
Amazing, wonderful, stunning, oh my heart, sun! Yes real Sun! The icicles started to
melt, the roads cleared up, the snow fell from the trees. But today we are supposed to
start being cold again. That’s life.
I am trying to find my next Pinterest Pick, actually I’ve found some good ones, but then it’s too dark to photography anything, like the twisted pretzels…oh totally yum, we ate them all the same night.
The natural room scents with citrus, and sage, smells wonderful, looks pretty bad in the pan after it heated up, forgot to take a photo of it before, and you don’t want to see the after.
The de-icer spray you can make for your sidewalks, except instead of rubbing alcohol, I used vinegar….not a good choice. What did you say sweetie, the sidewalks are all covered in ice? Really, I have no idea why.
Oh, and the yogurt, a total fail the first time, hmmm might our freezing cold house be a little too cold to make yogurt in? So after I turned up the heat it worked perfectly. It’s turning out so good we are on our second batch, and I can start to feel my toes again with the heat.
One day I will get it all together and get the photos taken at the same time as I make a Pinterest Pick.
Here’s a photo of the chalkboard my Dad and I made, well…I held the wood, and he stapled, glued and nailed, but I painted the chalkboard myself. I love this, it’s large around 2 x 3 feet…it fits perfectly on the wall in my kitchen, and solves what to put there. I want more of them!
I think I got the quote slightly wrong, but I wasn’t going to go back and do it over again.
And wow, have you noticed that each day is slightly longer! Wonderful.
Jen @ Muddy Boot Dreams
Oh, those mountain shots are glorious!
ReplyDeleteA lot of our snow melted away, which was so sad. Hopefully, we'll get lots more!
wow that first picture took my breath away! amazing I wish I lived where you do so I can complain about snow in march too x
ReplyDeleteIt got so warm yesterday that most of our snow melted. Of course, now those puddles have turned to ice, which is not a good thing, but it was nice while it lasted. I've almost completely forgotten what it's like to live under heavy gray clouds for months at a time. We get such beautiful sunny days, it's hard to grumble about the cold temperatures.
ReplyDeleteI have outdoor lights on a timer and I've noticed that they're going off earlier each night. *smile*
oh my gosh, the photography, wow wow wow, I love the chalk board you and your Dadmade, what a great memory to have making this with him, I miss my Dad sooo much.I have never made yogurt, I would like to try some time, take care in all that snow, I love the way it makes pillows of everything!!
ReplyDeleteIf this is where you live, I'd stop fussing right now. :-) It is absolutely amazingly beautiful! And winter in the north doesn't really start going away until April, so we cherish the slightly warmer and sunny days. BTW, I culture my yogurt in the oven at 100 degrees. Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos with us, Jen.
ReplyDeleteYou sure have a lot of snow Jen but it looks so beautiful with the mountains in the background. Guess you won't be picnicing for a long while. I've never tried anything on Pinterest. I am on it but don't get on often. People follow me but I just don't have time. I find it overwhelming. Enjoy the sun and snow today!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos ! Thanks for the giggle I to will have had enough of the snow by March that's if there is any we are in a very warm spell and large patches of grass are already showing . By Saturday we should be 10 °C Or 50 °F and rain that's spring temps WOOHOO ! Home made yogurt sounds good ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteSome of your most beautiful photos, Jen!
ReplyDeleteWell those are some of the most beautiful 'snow' photos I have ever seen!!! Love the way the glow of the sun reflects!!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of snow. I can totally relate to your joy at seeing longer days and a little more sun!!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Jen! So you've perked up to winter, eh, LOL! And I'm already envious of you, oh I might as well say it, green with complete jealousy if you think you will have no snow by end of March, I could only wish for that and then I suppose you'll be on to photographing your garden while I'm still throwing around shots of the white stuff... wanna vacation here for a while! Cheers~
ReplyDeleteI can almost hear the earth sighing as it snuggles under the blanket of snow. Your photos are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots, Jen. It would be easier if more days were like this. Your kitchen sign is your true calling. Stay warm . . .
ReplyDeleteJen- When you start running low on snow I will send you more! Your photos are absolutely gorgeous! It is beautiful country where you are- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLengthening of the days a good feeling. Beautiful snow scapes. Snow always looks beautiful in pictures. I am too old now to enjoy getting out and romping around in it, though. Here it is just cold. Snow supposed to be on its way--for the mountains anyway.
ReplyDeleteThe chalkboard is so cute. You did a great job. The photos of the mountains covered in snow are just breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteJudy
Gorgeous snow. My family are all going to up in that area tomorrow - my uncle passed away this week. The snow is stunningly beautiful with the sun shine.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the sun here today, too. I will glad take colder temperatures for brighter days.
Your photos are really beautiful and take me back to when we lived in Alaska. I wish I'd taken more photos then, but digital wasn't an option then. But I admire your great attitude and seeing the beauty that surrounds you!
ReplyDeleteI think your cold snowy weather is inching it's way down here Jen! We may have to take a drive to the high desert north of us as I hear they may have some snow. Your chalkboard is just lovely. I made a few myself a couple of years ago and I just really enjoy putting quotes or welcome notes on them. Adds a personal touch as well as a positive reminder at times. Stay warm! Ann
ReplyDeleteVery nice weather! Beautiful Jen!!! I love your area and pics. Not sure I could handle the cold or the gray skies....but your pics are always gorgeous:) I can only imagine the critters that live near and around you!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are so gorgeous Jen!
ReplyDeleteAnd ... I love the chalk board .. I want on too! for that garden-office/yoga-space I will one day get?
I haven't been taking pictures .. have to work up to that again .. I hate going out of the house!LOL

Love the snow! I know the sun feels good on a cold day. It's beautiful where you live. That chalkboard is really cool! I need one wall size to remember everything I need to do!
ReplyDeleteLove your first pic! Beautiful! I love the look of sun on snow. Oh & I love the chalkboard. It turned out great!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see you post, Jen. I love seeing pictures of your winter landscape. We haven't had snow in 344 days!
ReplyDeleteWhat do you use in your simmering scent? I've tried a few "recipes" and they sure do look pretty bad after awhile!
Stay warm, my friend.
XO,
Jane
Yep, I have a picnic table mound in my backyard just like yours. We're supposed to have a January thaw for the next two days and then more cold. And, yes, I'm very excited that each day is a little longer!
ReplyDeleteOnce again, gorgeous shots! I especially love the trees photos.
ReplyDeleteWe had sun today too!!! I was as happy as a kitty cat in a patch of sun. I just kept moving around the house following the sun from room to room. And, yes, I've noticed the day getting longer too! Isn't it wonderful?!?!
ReplyDeleteJen that is one of my favorite quotes...so much meaning in it...it sure looks much colder there but oh so beautiful...glad to see a bit of sun...it does help as most of our winter is gray
ReplyDeleteThat first photograph almost made me swoon. Though would it be possible to plant something along that chain link fence? Here it is 59 F, rainy and cloudy, bizarre weather for January.
ReplyDeleteJen, it is so absolutely gorgeous where you live. Yes, it is warm here this weekend. Tomorrow will be near 70 degrees, but it it seems to never stop raining and when the sun does peek out for a couple of minutes I run to try and take a few photos and then on Tuesday we will be back to cold with ice and snow.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Laura
Wow! Just wow. Those mountain shots are stunning. And the golden light on the trees just makes all the dark days that come before (almost) worth it. We got a touch of snow yesterday, but it melted. Soggy grass and soggy weeds don't make for pretty pictures. Enjoy your winter!
ReplyDeleteOh slightly jealous over your chalkboard..it looks great!
ReplyDeleteGreat view above that picnic table....hope you get more sun:) Do you have a snow stick?
