Angles and attitudes

1-Candy lineup-48

Remember that kid in

grade school who always

seemed to follow his own

wavering path when you

and your classmates were

supposed to be marching

in a ruler straight line?

Well, he grew up, and now

he is the guy that squeezed

into the parking spot between

you and the “there is no way

anyone is going to park there

it’s too tight” spot next to you.

No, it’s not too tight for him.

He’s also that guy that just can’t seem to park straight beside any vehicle in the snow, he parks at a angle with a attitude.  In fact snowy parking lots bring out the worst in his driving skills…he is the first vehicle to angle off, and starts another complete row of followers like sheep who can’t park.

There they all are, lining up any old way…gotta love winter. Did someone change the rules and not tell me?

When you try to find a place to park in the snow there are no lines, it’s a free for all, no lines means you can park anywhere you want right?  Rules of the road…don’t exist for these kind of drivers.

You can thank the kid who couldn’t walk in a straight line like the rest of your class, for the new scratches on your vehicle.

He parks to the beat of a different drummer.

Jen obviously drives a nice vehicle that she is proud of, and wishes to keep it in pristine condition even though it is older. She hardly ever parks in any spot that someone might squeeze into besides her.

  4. I hate parking lots and try to park away from the maddening crowd. I don't mind the extra bit of walk to avoid those drivers that think they can squeeze in right next to others.

  5. Oh no. I aways feel so bad when someone gets "keyed". Such a terrible thing to do to someone. Hoping that isn't what happened to you. Love how you did your story with the hearts.

  6. Oh I hear ya Jen! Most annoying. I usually try to park away from anyone else with no one around me but if it's a busy day then inevitably a big ol truck gets in beside me at an angle cause the truck is so big they can't park it. Did your car get dinged? I like your candy heart for the analogy. Sweet. :)

  7. Those who hear a different drum truly have different standards. I am so sorry he was not respectful of the property of others! I hope come spring, you can buff out the scratches!

  9. Cute! Your candy hearts have furthered my education. We rarely have snow here. But when we do have snow, all the businesses shut down and everyone has a holiday. It has never occurred to me to think about snow covered parking lots. In case of snow, our parking lots are empty!

  11. Great post, Jen

I've experienced this guy first hand recently and found some solace in the fact that he could not get out of the "tight spot" either. Sometimes "Murphy's Law" backfires on the guy who marches to a different drummer, too.

  12. I've been enjoying the snowy parking lots with no discernable lines. Here, most people give themselves lots more "personal space" around their vehicles than the painted lines normally allow.

  13. Love these images. I once heard someone say that kind of a driver is using braille to park.

  14. Very clever! Yeah, "that guy" often shows up in snow packed parking lots! LOL

  16. Oh no Jen...I think I am that "guy" but I never scratch anyone's car. I can't seem to park straight tho so I can't be mad if someone scratches my new car (2010 CRV).

  17. I had to laugh in spite of your obvious frustration. At least he has the excuse of snow covered parking lot - what about the ones that do it with no snow??? Windy and cool here. No snow, but last week they did have it to the north of us. Ann, who drives an older car for many reasons but most of all because it suits me to a "T" and I can negotiate this new city pretty well in it. Ann

P.S. Today I gave my zip code for my house number and then vice versa. Wow.

  18. What is with this time of year and deranged parking? Makes me crazy when suddenly the parking lot that used to have ample room for 50 vehicles now only parks 20 cause people decide they can park sideways and diagonal.

  19. Ha ha - that kid is definitely me! Especially in winter, when I can't see the lines!

  20. I mean I park not in a straight line - not that I bash into people. Sorry to hear about your car!

  21. I have to chuckle because I was born into a whole family like that. The heart pics are a perfect representation of them! Perfect!
