It’s not just a word, but a feeling

I don’t make New Years 1-MBD 2012-0038

resolutions, but I have

been tempted into playing

with a word to define my

upcoming hopes, and

dreams for this new year.

Normally I don’t

do a “word” for the year

but I am very impressed

by those who can decide

on a single word and stay

with it.

Now if I did have a word for this coming year, not that I do…it would be

                                            Balance.

In all things I would search for balance, in life, work, recreation, feelings, emotions, and thoughts.

2-MBD 2012-0040

It has a nice ring to it, a very moderate feeling, nothing sliding too far in either direction, maybe it would allow me to catch my breath, move forward, think and see clearly, and be more creative.

Maybe it would take the sharp edge off of the hurts the world is going through, the nastiness, the pettiness, the meanness.  Change them to something…..more balanced.

3-MBD 2012-0042

And then maybe my word could help bring back goodness, kindness, helpfulness, and joy.

Balance, we need it this year, more then ever.

I know, it’s only a word, but I can hope can’t I?

  9. Balance is a strong word. A good word. We often teeter on the fulcrum and without balance we tip in one direction leaving the other direction up in the air.

  16. I don't make New Year's resolutions either but, like you, I've found myself tempted to have a word for the year. I still haven't landed on anything yet. Your word "balance" is fantastic. But I'm also inspired by Carolynn's word "courage". This is my problem. I can't really settle on one. hee hee

  17. It IS more than a word, it is a feeling and I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that this word has chosen you this year. I'll bet you find yourself thinking about and referring to this word as you go about your daily life in 2013.

  21. Jen, balance is a wonderful word for 2013. I think this year I will choose moderation. Often I find myself going overboard on everything. This past holiday held a great lesson. Amidst all the sadness Laura urged me to choose joy on her blog. I found joy doing simple things well. Simplicity brought peace, grace and gratitude. One of the best times in years. I too, like your word. Enjoy!

  22. Oh my, are we getting on track with each other again, LOL! All day yesterday I thought about the fact I don't do resolutions, then I had a convo with my Mum and told her I was going to choose a word.... and lookie here, you sound just like me... I'm still thinking about my word, but I have to many choices, so I need to narrow it down! Love your world, definitely what we all need in life! Cheers!

  29. Hey there Jen girl !
I love the word "BALANCE" .. I so wish that would be my theme for this year but I know that is too unrealistic for us .. things will get crazy .. there is no getting around that VERB (for us) .. so I might as well steal myself for it ?
Best to be "PREPARED" ? LOL
    Joy
Love the pictures of the nest .. a few years ago I found one from the Karley Rose grass .. I so wished I had kept it in the shed safe and sound .. it was lovely .. instead I left it on a big rock and of course the rain destroyed it .. lesson learned!
