and wet shoes you know
that smudges, drips, and
splotches are inevitable.
Our front door does double
duty as the main entry way
and everything comes
through those doors, snow
groceries, wet shoes
kitties with dirty feet
and visitors.
I usually use our steam
mop and it does a great
job of getting rid of any
marks or splotches on the floor, but sometimes I just don’t feel like hauling it out.
So this simple hint I found on Pinterest from Nature’s nurture’s blog is super easy to mix up, and easy to apply. Just mix one cup of rubbing alcohol, one cup of vinegar, one cup of water and a few drops of dish detergent, and pour into a spray bottle. Mist floors and clean with a microfiber cloth…or micro fibre mop like I use.
And it can be used on stainless steel, countertops, faucets, mirrors…and other hard household surfaces.
She does mention if you find the smell of vinegar too harsh you can add some essential oils to mask it…I just cut the vinegar down slightly..and it doesn’t bother us too much.
I find that all natural castile soap, and oxygen bleach also make great cleaners and are environmentally safe. And I will tell you all about them another day…it’s late, I am writing this the night before and I …am…..falling ….asleep.

Good for saving money ! We have hard wood floors and a mudroom with linoleum , all our entrances have rubber back mats in front of them . We use the back kitchen entrance all the time and the mudroom entrance ,we very rarely use the front door . I like to use Green Works for all purpose . Hey what ever works eh? that's the main thing ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteYes, it is difficult to keep the laminate clean and your tip will be very helpful. I use the Wet Jet (I've discovered a way to refill the bottles with my own mixture) and a micro-fiber cloth for all my cleaning. It saves money as well as cut down on waste.
ReplyDeleteI understand we're in for copious amounts of boot sucking mud here in the spring. This tip will come in handy. My ears really pricked up when you mentioned using it on appliances, too. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try it, when I get home. Our laminate is always scuffed up, hopefully this works. I'm thinking the rubbing alcohol will work.
ReplyDeleteI hope you got a good night's sleep. Well I told you I finally joined Pinterest but I haven't sat down long enough to figure out how to start! lol
ReplyDeleteThanks on the cleaning tip. We use Murphy's mixed with some water in a spray bottle for wood and laminate floors.
ReplyDeleteVinegar is the key to everything!:)
ReplyDeleteNatural cleaners are the only way to go. I'm a big fan of Nature Clean products (as you already know smiles!) and vinegar and baking soda are the dynamic duo I use for almost everything.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post Jen, thanks.
I just saw oxygen bleach at the store this evening and wondered what it was. Now I want to read your next post!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it wonderful all the natural products that are coming out to replace all the harsh chemicals. I still clean a lot of things with vinegar, lemons and baking soda. They are my 'go to' cleaning products.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy weekend Jen!
