You had me at meow….

1-Christmas lighs-0712

There is the cutest

wooden sign in a store

near here

and it calls to me, but at

$25 I have to ignore it.

Painted black with lovely

tall white letters

it simply states..

“You had me at MEOW”

If you are a animal lover

you know why this is so

appealing, it’s because it’s

true.

I want that sign, badly…but

it costs too much.

Life is like that.

What the Boo brings to my life is priceless, and can’t be bought, begging, meowing, 5 am morning wakeup caller that he is.

Our lives are forever blessed by the animals that share our worlds, furry, feathered, or hairy that they might be.

3-Christmas lighs-0591

They bring a joy to our hearts, even if they disdain us all day until it’s feeding time…oh right, that’s just my cat.

A house is not a home, without a cat, or a dog, or a bird, a fish, or a rabbit….you get the drift.  My first cat was rehomed when we were small, I adored him, allergies they said.  Heartbreak I told them through my tears.  My life was bereft until in my late teens when we met a lovely ginger tabby, who adored angel food cake, and car rides, we adored her.

When I moved out, I took with me a barn cat with a identity crisis…she thought she should be a indoor cat, and she was for years, she loved it, I loved her.

And then we have Boo, our Bootsie, the tuxedo cat that adopted us, good choice Boo…we love you, and you know….

“You had me at meow.”

“Of course I did….”

  1. Haha ~ I totally agree with all of it! And Boo makes a most beautiful model! Banjo too seems to treat me with indifference. Until feeding time or I have a dish of yogurt...then he seems to be all up in my face with love! LOL! Yup, a home is not a home without an animal to love. :)

  2. Jen girl I can't imagine our lives without our precious furry souls.
Molly our Calico traveled from Nova Scotia to Holland and back here to Ontario .. I would love to write a little book about her one day because she was so extraordinary .. we love all of our girls in such different ways to suit their personalities which are all so different, cat people get that!
I truly pity people that don't have that feeling for animals .. there is something missing in their souls.
The Booster looks so handsome in these pictures !
    Joy : )

  4. Lucky Boo, she has it made. Plus she is a great model for your photography.

  5. I am sure you could paint the sign yourself. Use a board, some quarter round for a border, acrylic paint, letters printed from the internet and if needed enlarged at the stationary store. Can't wait to see it.....now get off the computer and go feed your poor starving kitty.

  6. That cat sure does like to pose, doesn't she? So cute. Pets are priceless and are so much company.

  7. Boots is so cute and adorable. I can certainly agree with all you said. Put two cats are the same. Our life is richer for the company of pets.

  9. With your fabulous photos, I would think you could make a sign of your own that would be perfect for you and Boo.

  10. The cat is so much a part of our lives.
When I see something I really want but won't part with the $$$ I think how I can make it myself. I bet you can make that sign yourself for a lot less and you would appreciate it more.

  12. I never really had any choice in the matter with every animal I've ever invited home to live with me. It was love at first sight, for each and every one of them.

I agree with you - a house without an animal feels devoid of life, empty, and cold.

  13. Are you very certain you can't afford that sign? If it meows to you, surely it has worth beyond the board and paint it is composed of. And someday, when Boo is gone, it will be a fond memory of your sweet cat who was very patient to pose for you!

  14. Well, of course being a cat person first and then a dog person second, oh heck, I'm both. I can finally just say it. In fact I am an animal person, period. I love the sentiment behind the sign and am not sure I could have resisted it! However, Jen, I suspect you may make one of your own to honor all your feline loves. I was a cat lover from the time our family cat used to wind her way through my playpen bars and snack on my Arrowroot cookies (do they still have those?). She was with me until I was 13 and listened to all my deep, dark preteen secrets. Your Boo is beautiful. Ann

  15. You had me at "meow" -- so true! Numerous studies have also shown actual health benefits of having a cat or dog, in particular. So many reasons for that -- loyalty, comfort, unconditional love. I can't imagine my house without a pet. Nice post!

  17. I have always had a cat since I was a little kid walking to school down a country road, passing Mr. Bossic's farm. He gave me couple of kittens that I took home. Dad wasn't happy so I had to find a home for them. Sir Christopher Kitty Cat went to a classmate Philomina who was allergic and Chris, a tiny little fellow, came back and dad let me keep him. Then there was Othello who a black cat who showed up my horse barn. He went went off to college with him, lost his tail somehow. And the list goes on.Today we have two cats: Country who will soon be 15 and Mo the ferrel youngster. Boo is a handsome fellow and a very lucky one to have such a loving home I love reading about him.

  18. Bootsie is so adorable, of course he had you at meow! Jen, make your own sign, you just need some black and white paint and some letter stencils and a piece of wood, easy peasy! Our pups had us at whine, bark, growl and lick and we are so glad they did.

  19. Whoever made the sign knows that we animal lovers are suckers for signs like that! My friend gave me a great sign that reads, 'When all else fails, hug the dog.' LOVE it!♥

AND, wanted to let you know that I'm having a 4 HomemadeSoapnSuch Valentine Soap Sachet Giveaway - on now through Friday. Hope you'll stop in at Cranberry Morning and enter. :-) And this time it's open to U.S., Canada, and U.K. residents!

  21. When I saw the title I thought - has Bootsie got himself a new friend? ha ha. I'm one of those who definitely falls for every meow :) Life wouldn't be the same without a furball around.

  22. I just had to stop back by and tell you about my afternoon with friend, Mary. She has a cat that looks like Boo named SOX. I took Mary one of the fishing pole type cat toys and she had so much fun sitting in her chair playing with Sox. I could not help but think of your post. So nice to see Mary enjoy her beloved pet.

  23. I am sure you will make your own sign! Love the photos of Boo..he is so handsome in his shiny Tuxedo like coat:)

  24. Make your own sign with that saying! Be creative!!

  25. Maybe you can make the sign yourself, Jen. I miss having a pet so much. although it has to be a dog. My cat allergies are so bad that cats aren't an option for me. Hopefully when I get to Atlanta, I will be able to find another sweet dog.
    Hugs,
    Laura

  26. Our old cat Phoebe died a few years ago and has not been replaced. I sometimes miss having a cat, but both my wife and I have to do a lot of traveling and that makes it difficult. My wife grew up with cats - her mother kept two Siamese throughout her adult life.
