What I love about winter, it’s ![]()
so tempting to say “that it’s
going out the door.” But that
wouldn’t be true, now would it.
Winter isn’t a easy season to
live through in our climate, and
maybe I am feeling generous
because it seems that
we might get a early spring. We
even have some bare patches
under the trees…gotta love them.
This winter wasn’t as hard on me as
our first one, we have more snow, but
warmer temperatures it seems.
I do love the way the snow covers up the scenery, equalizing everything into soft marshmallow mounds.
No dark bare patches, all is clean and white, and constantly freshened up by new snowfalls.. I love how the winter gives us new photo opportunities if only we open our eyes to them. The details are sharper, the trees have shapes, the birds stand out in winter. Nothing is hidden above the snow, but below it’s all a mystery.
But I will admit that I am looking forward to spring, hoping, wishing, and dreaming of the hidden garden…with it’s surprises, and new shoots. I am already planning to move this, replant that, make this larger…
Spring is only as beautiful as it is because of winter’s wrath….and for that we should be grateful.

I love the snow hats on the bird house . . . the powdery blue of the one house . . . the brighter blue of sky . . . and the thoughts of pinks, yellows, tangerines and magentas . . . flowering dreams and seed packets did that for me!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy a happy winter day Jen . . .
Awesome photos ! With camera in hand I find the winters a new canvas for me to photograph and take advantage of different scenery . That's what I like about winter I truly believe if I didn't do photography winter would harder for me as now it is there for me to capture it's beauty and show that winter isn't all that bad ! Have a great day !
ReplyDeleteMaine is cleaning out from a blizzard, 31.9 inches of snow where I am this weekend. Yet, with the blue sky this morning it feels like spring will come again this year.
ReplyDeleteWinter Whining has been fun because it has given me inspiration for topics. Now what am I going to do? Retreat into my seed catalogs, too. We have the Sarah Bernhardt peony on you one catalog cover. She is loving, but has had a hard time here. We are going to feed her rabbit pellets in early spring, as the lady I bought her from suggested. See you soon
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! Winter is definitely more beautiful under a blanket of snow. It isn't too pretty here right now, just muddy, wet and brown. Very drab! I am hoping for an early spring too!
ReplyDeleteI love your photo of the snow mounded on the birdhouse...very cute. I wish I were looking out a snowy fields and mountains instead of houses, sidewalks and streets. Our last snow is just slush now. Okay, I'm whining!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday, Jen!
XO,
Janr
Jen... great post for the end of our little meme, loved the photos! Ah well, all things good must come to an end as they say, but like spring, new things will come! Cheers~
ReplyDeleteGreat captures this morning!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteWow, there's sun out there today what a treat. We have only a smidge of snow left here, looks like there's quite a bit left where you are. I think an early spring is definitely on the way.
Can't wait!
Snow does cover up all that stark brown for a while. It has never stayed to long here this winter so far. Coming and melting in three days or so. Another up and down winter temperature wise here. I love the shot with the birdhouse and snow cap. Looks like you are getting ready to plant as soon as the weather permits.
ReplyDeleteAs No Winter Whining comes to a close I know it won’t be the end of seeing more snow photographs of your new forever home, Jen. Thank you for hosting today.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos today and wish I was taking part but I just don't have time. It's a gorgeous sunny day here in Alberta and this week looks like the temperatures will be moderating to around the freezing mark!! We are going for a trail walk this afternoon so I'll get lots of photos. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos...and words. No Winter Whining was a great idea and reminded us all to be grateful for each and every day that God has made. Also excited about Spring!!...:)))
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised by how much I'm actually enjoying winter here this year, too. Maybe because it's all so new - and I don't "have" to go out in it if I don't want to. Having a warm, snuggly home to seek refuge in is a big plus, too.
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos, your joy of winter shines through in your photos,
ReplyDeleteYou make such beautiful memories of the snow and your photos are just breathtaking! I see snow and go "YUK". You see the beauty in it. Thanks for the gorgeous pics.

I love your attitude about winter and snow.
ReplyDeleteI miss snow, living in South Carolina we do not get much snow.
I do pray for those in the North who were hit with the storm this past week. I will continue to pray for those folks, because I am guessing snow is not their favorite thing right now.
I am your newest follower.
I think your winter photos are beautiful...I too am looking forward to Spring!
ReplyDeleteYour winter photos are wonderful. I just love it when everything starts to look shabby, a new snow fall covers it up and its all new again!!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking today that it would be hard not to whine this week. I'm hoping to get a post up by Tuesday...some thoughts twirling around...
ReplyDeleteJen I am ready for spring as freezing rain is coming down now.
ReplyDeleteJen, your winter with all of its snow is so beautiful. None of that here.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Laura
And don't forget, a hard winter builds strong character! That's what I tell myself, anyway.
ReplyDeleteAfter the blizzard this past weekend, it was amazing to see blue sky on Sunday. It's snowing again today so spring is a ways off.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your posts for this series.
Lovely photos..an early spring I am jealous. The only thing I like about winter is there are no snakes:)
