Randomness, and reflections

It’s a real word, randomness, I1-MBD Paperwhites-1314

looked it up. Do you like words?

I love words, but I find that I

need to replace a few words that

are a little dated in my vocabulary

somewhat like those bell bottom

jeans you have still have hanging

your closet, hoping that the trend

will come back, it did, and

suddenly it was been there, done

that. So here’s one of the

words, “cool” there isn’t going

to be anything hip and funky

about my replacement

word for “cool.”                                                      Yes, it’s real, I’ll tell you what it is at the end of the post.

I mean, does anyone even use the word “cool” anymore?  Do you find yourself still using expressions that you used decades ago, no matter how you try to weed them out?  I am almost embarrassed to be dating myself by using the word, but sometimes it slips out….along with a few others that I can’t mention.

What word will ever have that kind of amazement, power, and sense of surprise…as “cool” and still sound good coming out of our mouths?  I know….I’m drawing a blank too.

Now onto the randomness part, take a look at the images…that’s a dragon fruit.

It…

actually…..

tastes….

good.

Something like a kiwi, without the banana flavour, mild, barely sweet, and the rind is hot hot hot pink! Almost Cerise pink, it doesn’t look real do it, and it has a slight spongy feel to the outside, the inside is crisp, try one.

When’s the last time you tried anything new…and unusual? And have you ever had a dragon fruit?

This isn’t actually new to me, I did have one years ago, but that was so long ago that it doesn’t count anymore. The insides always remind me of a Oreo cookie blizzard…”cool” I ah mean … interesting isn’t it?  See it’s just a perfect word.  “cool.”

Well, there should be more fruit photos, but each time I sliced off a piece I ate it before it made it to the camera…I was hungry, the light was good, and lunch was a memory…life’s like that.

It’s a unusual kind of fruit to find in apple country, down on the coast they are common because there are more Asian groceries…but here in big sky land, not so much.

“Cool” right?

  7. I think I tried dragon fruit once and didn't really care for it. I do like star fruit though - have you ever tried that? It's impossible to describe the mild taste.

I don't say "cool" much, but I'll make up words like fantabulous! when the occasion calls for it.

  9. Hi Jen... I've never tried dragon fruit, have seen it when we were in the city, but no point in buying it, it would be rotten by the time we got home, LOL!

As for words, well actually cool is still popular today if you just listen to the kids... that's where I try to pick up my words... while cool is still used, my preferred word of choice in place of that one is "sweet"... but it's all in the way you say it, not sweet like nice and dainty and pretty, but like "sweeeeeet" and it means awesome, cool, fab, etc.,. so there, that's my word lesson for the day, (snicker) .... hmmmm, kind of like your snort and my snicker... same thing just with a twist, LOL! Cheers~

  10. Far out!!

I don't think I've ever even seen one of these. But, I'll be looking for one. Especially since you told us what it tastes like, and that it's really Cool!

  11. "Cool" is used in my area, mostly by those too young to know when the word was previously cool.

I haven't tried anything new or adventurous lately.

  12. Love the photos this morning! I have been using cool quite a bit lately. One word I dislike intently and noticed adults are using frequently is "like".

  13. I still use the word cool all the time. Can't shake it. I think the word "amazing" is so over-used. We've got to get away from that one...and maybe put more "cool" in our conversation.

  14. I say "cool" all the ime . . . Like it much more than "awesome!".

And you know what, this Dragon Fruit looks and sounds . . . COOL!

  15. Dragonfruit is delicious! We had it growing here until our major freeze 3 years ago:( So I'm trying to figure out how to get it growing again around our landscape:) Wonderful pics Jen:) Enjoy!

  16. Totally cool Jen!! :/ Sorry. I had to. I've never tried this fruit but have seen it in the grocery store lately. Question. Do you eat the skin or just dig out the flesh that's inside? I wish the stores would explain these fruits on a sign for those of us who are less informed.

  18. I quite often use the word 'groovy'. Does that show my age? LOL! Yup...I'm thinking it does. Haha!

I tasted dragon fruit once but didn't care for it. Perhaps it wasn't ripe though or something. :(

  20. I have to laugh! I just used the word "cool" in the last comment I left. hahaha

I think the use of words is highly regional because the word "cool" has not been retired as a highly used word in our region of the world. I hear it used by people of all ages.

Now the words "neato", "keen" or "rad"... those are a different story.

  21. It's very pretty! I have never had one but I bet I would like it! I would have to figure out HOW to eat it first though! Stay warm! Hugs!

  22. Love your photos! I've never seen or even heard of a dragon fruit. It's pretty!...As for using the world "cool", guilty.. Ive used it all my life and don't think I could begin to replace it.. Cool huh? LOL

  23. What a cool fruit! Cool is a mainstay in my vocab. I'm 43. If I described things by saying "Dude, that is sick!" I'd sound like an idiot. I'd rather just sound like I'm a California native who was a teen in the 80's. It works for me!

  24. Yes, I have eaten dragon fruit! I tasted it and other exotic fruits when I visited Taiwan last year. My favorite of all was the Lehu fruit, not sure of its spelling, but more commonly called wax apple in English. Shaped like a pear and astonishingly sweet and refreshing. Definitely cool!

  25. Never heard of that 'cool' fruit. I still use cool. A word I don't use anymore is a synonym for happy.

  26. Cool! And I really mean it..I still use that word a lot! Wonderful photos of a beautiful fruit..I have never seen it before..here Pomegranate and Star fruits are considered exotic for the area. :)
