This gardener’s heart yearns
for spring, for bulbs, for green
tips on brown branches, for
growth to start.
Instead this gardener’s
heart sees snow, and ice
cold..but knows it shouldn’t
complain because so many
others are waiting for spring
also.
This gardener’s heart is
thinking of blues, greens, pinks
yellows, petals, and fronds…
Wishing, hoping, dreaming of the day when spring returns and replaces the ice and white with green, and fresh.
For now this gardener’s heart must lay dormant…soon it will stir, and start to stretch towards the light again.
Until then this gardener’s heart will learn to be content with what it has, and bide it’s time.

Beautiful. Have a wonderful day Jen,

I am loving the silvery whites and blues in your photos. Valerie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful frosty photos Jen. We are dormant as the earth, plants and trees are. It'll come.
ReplyDeleteThis is written so beautifully. It's been so frigid here in the Midwest, I keep dreaming of little bulbs sprouting soon.

Jane
Lovely words and images...this gardener's heart is learning patience and living in the moment during this still winter of snow...another foot overnight...14 feet so far.....sigh.....
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and post! Spring is just around the corner for here we have Robins and Cottontail bunnies have appeared and the male Cardinal has started singing his mating song, all signs of spring ! I think we are all looking forward to spring now ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteI've been bringing home fresh flowers from the grocer every week. Having a beautiful bouquet of cheerful blossoms in the house, really seems to help take the edge of winter's chill.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful icy shots!
ReplyDeleteThose are wonderful photos. I can understand your being ready for spring though. Hang in there it will be here before you know it.

Beautiful Jen, so peaceful and tranquil, definitely a heart in waiting! Cheers~
ReplyDeleteI know patience is not one of your strong points. And waiting can seem like forever. Spring will come, only when it gets good and ready to arrive. Love your photos.
ReplyDeleteI am SO longing for Spring, too, Jen. Your surroundings look much like my own. I am so sick of snow and we have another big storm moving in late tonight with snow for 24 hours predicted- UGH! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteJen I love your words and photos they are beautiful. B
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, it's so nice to see those beautiful blue skies! The blues and silvers in your photographs are just beautiful. We have rainy, soggy days here. Crocus are blooming but quickly become mush. Cheers, Jenni
ReplyDeleteSpring will be here soon.
ReplyDeleteHang in there.
Beautiful photos, as usual.
I feel for your gardener's heart. Be patient. The joy of seeing new growth will soon be here.
ReplyDeleteReally like that last photo-- stunning!
ReplyDeletegot cold again eh? :)
ReplyDeleteThe frost is lovely, really it is. To everything there is a season... :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots! Enjoy these months while you can. Before you know it, the allergies will be upon us with that yellow pollen, the heat. It does look pretty in your photos. Hope all is well with you!
ReplyDeleteAlthough the earth looks asleep under that beautiful blanket of white, lots of things are happening and before you know it, green stuff will be popping out all over the place! At least, that's what you need to keep telling yourself.
ReplyDeleteWaiting is so hard. I remember it well. Look at it this way... at least you don't have your garden springing up with weeds of every sort like I do. A few days ago, I had to do the not-so-fun and back-breaking task of weeding the garden paths because they were completely impassable. I filled a huge green can in the process. So there are advantages to still having it cold and icy. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe light is staying longer each day Jen. We're almost there.
ReplyDeleteRight there with you, longing for spring. Every day we are a little closer...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics!
Oh Jen, I hear you! I'm keeping myself busy with indoor projects and reminding myself that it is still February, after all. My real spring fever has no right to hit until at least March. It helps that I have an orchid that--inexplicably--keeps blooming for me, though I do nothing but water it occasionally. Also, I bought some cheery primroses that are now in my windowsill. Anything I can do!
ReplyDeleteJudy brought home a big bunch of cut daffodils yesterday. Somehow it makes the wait easier.
ReplyDeleteToday was a preview of spring with highs near 60, but next week is forecast to be cold again with a couple of chances of snow. However, as March is going to come in like a lion, I am hoping that spring will soon follow. My gardener's heart is yearning, too :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Laura
