Winter-the awkward teenage phase

1-Winter walk-1707

Winter is neither here nor

there right now, it’s as if

winter is in the middle

of a awkward teenaged

phase, the kind you

have to grow out of to

reach your full capacity.

Spotty, gangly, gawky…

awkward.

Confused, does it want to

snow, rain, cool down or

warm up.

There are still patches of snow

and ice, but then there are also puddles of water forming, and the sunshine is melting the snow.

One warm day, one cold night and the drama continues.

Who are you asking to the prom?

Personally I would choose spring.

Goodbye winter, I’ve a hankering for spring fever.

  1. Jen you are spot on with this post. I love it. Even here in Florida the teenager is rearing its confusing head. We have had a warm winter, too warm if you ask me all of the sudden this morning there is frost. Just enough to make everything brown, when the spring flowers are already peeking out.
    Hugs to you,
    Meredith

  2. Lovely photos ! It is up and down here to last night at 5 pm we got lots of big sticky snow and it has covered the road that was all clear and dry and the little bit of grass that was showing . The sun is out again today but it is cold . I am done with winter now come on spring ! Have a good day !

  3. Great analogy for the winter weather that you are having so far, Jen. It has been quite mild at the coast but from past experience I would not be surprised if a major snowfall came down hard in late Feb. and even March as it has done in other years. As for right now … I spotted a jogger in shorts just the other day running down the road!

  5. Beautiful photos Jen, and lovely words... I honestly have to say that I am not quite at that stage of really wishing for spring yet, I'll get to that when I see water dripping somewhere, but for now it is still cold and lots of snow... but the sun is shining today and I am enjoying the way it sparkles off the snow! Cheers~

  7. Really pretty shots of spring trying to nudge in... I especially like the last one. Beautiful.

  8. Nice photos, especially the last one. Can't wait for spring - and by that I mean April, not March. March simply fools us with warm days and then a blizzard. It's nasty. April is cheery.

  9. Oh yeah, Winter is loosening its grip here too. I know more snow storms will pass this way before Spring truly arrives, but the late season snows are by far my favorite - filled with welcome moisture and usually melt quickly.

  10. Can I ever empathize with this one. Saturday was sunny and warm, everything melting to expose grass, to be followed by a full out rain storm and now day 3 - a blizzard. What the he*&? These past 3 weeks have been downright manic depressive.

  11. Well, Jen. I hope Spring takes you up on your offer! It's time for the snow to melt and some things to start blooming. Not too fast, just in the right time. Ann

  12. You have spots with no snow..I am very jealous! We have a ground blizzard today and the wind is real cold..about -25 F Windchill..that would be -31 C for you..a tad chilly:)

  13. Winter here has almost matured into spring, so not quite so awkward as yours. Still, warmth is far away. I went out looking for blossoms today, but found none. However, I did find buds of hellebore, daffodil and violets. Progress!

  14. Everything you said on this post rings true for me right now, too. You said it so well! The awkward teenage phase, indeed! I would not ask it to the prom because it can't make up its mind. ;-)

  15. LOL - love these shots and your words.

It's still very much winter over here.

  16. I am absolutely ready for winter to graduate! It's still early yet. Yesterday was sunny and in the 40s (F), today is snowing and in the 20s. I expect more of the same for another month or so.
